I'm sure someone will defend this. "He had to be doing something suspicious..." :whatever:

I say he had to be doing something suspicious

I hate the cop purists on the board

I'll admit though it is a good laugh to read the dumb **** crap they type and ******** execuses they have for defending them

the best one "you knock police but when you're in trouble who's the first people you call?"

know **** sherlock! I'm gonna call them because THAT'S THEIR JOB and I expect them to do it. Just like I expect anyone and everyone with an occupation to do their job.

doesn't at all change the fact that you hardly if ever hear about them being heroic but there's a new story EVERY SINGLE DAY about how they abuse their power and inflict crime. Such as the video you posted above

not like it's a secret, most of them are pieces of ****

^ Generalizing statements like this show a lot of ignorance.

He most definitely didn't look suspicious in that video, and the cops didn't seem to have any reason whatsoever for beating him the way they did.

That said, when are you going to stop being a blind cop-hater and understand that the police that questioned you so harshly were doing their jobs properly?

I think someone in Rock's last thread said this, but it applies here:

You wouldn't be calling them that when you need them.

Seriously, that's just as bad as any racist or sexist stereotyping. Most cops do their jobs and do them well. Every mass group (or even minute group) will have its fair share of idiots, but that is far from a determining factor pertaining to the rest of the group.

The reason you don't hear about them being heroic is because of a number of reasons. For starters, the media knows that we tend to love disaster and violence, so those bad deeds usually get blown out of proportion and played up on the news, overshadowing the good deeds. Second, what do you call the countless news articles about how cops stopped an imminent threat, or an armed robbery, or apprehended a mugger? Being a police officer is a thankless job, and its people like you that make it that much more thankless.

That said, when are you going to stop being a blind cop-hater and understand that the police that questioned you so harshly were doing their jobs properly?

Heh heh...tell me more about myself, Professor X.

I'm pretty sure the way you acted in your last thread made it quite obvious that we don't need "telepathic powers" to read that you're falling into that stereotypical "**** the police" type.

Why is it every time I take a peak into community you stand out?

Can you communicate your thoughts in a more sophisticated manner? I think you can right?

I was acting suspicious in that last thread, wasn't I? *Snicker*

Nothing I said in that previous thread, which really has nothing to do with this thread could lead anyone to believe I "hate" cops. But if you're waiting for me to agree with your "just doing their jobs" thing...nah, ain't gonna happen.

And now back to "Rodney King '09"...

Damn. Those cops should probably be fired. And put in jail themselves.

That said, the 12 year olds who think "most" cops are like this... keep having fun skateboarding at your town square.

Jumping in on the "Eric Brooks stands out in every thread" bandwagon... he's already more well-known than me and I've been here nearly 6 years... kind of jealous.

I never said they were doing their jobs this time... I agreed with you that the cops looked suspicious.

And quite frankly, I don't think it matters whether or not you agree with me about whether they're "just doing their jobs". Last time, you made it evident by your description that they were. This time, it's very apparent they're abusing their power.

and they all come out of the woodwork

Man, you had to know that making that post was going to get you into an argument with SOMEONE here. Other than that. I'm not going to say anything.

Wasn't talking about the vid, I was talking about your comment about my incident.

Heh heh. Whatever, dude. We could go on all day but there really is no point. You asked when am I gonna understand, etc etc and I answered. I'm not gonna "understand" because it's not true.

This time, it's very apparent they're abusing their power.

Indeed.

Sure is magical how one moment Ronnie is doing whatever it is he's doing (flapping his arms and trying to fly?) and the next the two cops are out of the car and beating on him. Almost seems like some time might have passed.

Hmm.

This looks pretty clear cut, but it's been edited, and there are, of course, two sides to every story.

I don't think it's right to beat anyone if they aren't directly threatening anyone, but the only people who know what happened are the cops and Ronnie, and to try to make a call on this without knowing the actual story is silly.

Tell me, what is the point of these continued "The cops did something wrong" threads? Is it to show that some cops aren't great people? Wow. How about that? There are bad cops like there are bad anything else.

Those of you who hate cops, I doubt you've even met the cops who are the true pieces of **** yet. You seem to have met some that were slightly harsh with you, who hurt your feelings and egos, etc. And you need to get over that, because cops are sensitive to this stuff, and if they detect this attitude from you the next time you encounter them, things won't go well.

Or saw it in a movie. :whatever:

Every experience I have had with cops has been as pleasant as it could have been.

I have yet to personally come across a cop who was a complete and total ass. Sure, some pressed harder than something may have needed, but it was never anything obstinate.

On topic, though. That's effed, and there's no reason that they should have asked him to zip his coat up, unless he had girlboobs or something. Though, to play Devils' Advocate, if he's schizo, he may have said something that he doesn't remember which set off the cops, as opposed to to being BIP [Black in Public] as the video title would suggest.

There are several other longer versions of the clip on youtube, but the one I posted sums up what happened.

What is the point of any thread on here? I saw one earlier called "Do you shave your chest or back"...

Come on, everybody knows if you see a black person standing on the corner he has to be doing something suspicious.

I was trying to figure out why the cops were stopping and telling him to zip up his coat, last time I looked its not illegal to wear a coat unzipped.

So much bickering in here.

I love it.
