Corona and other diseases

A lot of non-food shops closed in the UK from today and now McDonald's just announced they are closing from tomorrow.

Fast foods wouldn't have been the most healthy, and also McDonald's would've been a quick way to spread the virus with so many coming in there to eat.

Impending doom down here. Our welfare offices have been flooded with people looking to take advantage of the emergency cash payments. Lines hundreds of metres long around all offices around the country. The systems is going to be overwhelmed.

Going to be like that for a while. Stay strong. :(

Ohio (my state) shuts down to "shelter in place" tomorrow at midnight.

But "lucky" me won't be affected by it because I work at a store that sells groceries and is therefore an essential business.

We're up to 351 cases statewide, 104 new confirmations.

And now the government welfare website has crashed.

Got a close friend who works at a hospital in NYC and he sent over an email that was sent and it just lays out the numbers of how royally screwed every health care worker up there is.

Looks like they'll be rationing off masks to just one per-day per-health care worker.

There's some news coming in from Italy on people over 60 ruled out as patients as ventilators become scarce: Doctor in Italy: Patients Over 60 Are Out of Luck - news - Search & News

This is all like a nightmare you can't wake up from.

And quoting Pennywise's post, I think the local/state/federal governments are going to have to enforce a lockdown or "stay-in-place" orders for the whole US before its over. Thanks to the spring breakers and those people who won't do what they should be [social distancing], its the only way there'll be any kind of hope for 'flattening the curve' before the end of May or early June.
