Superman Returns would of most likely been 3 hours if they didn't cut all the Kent farm scenes and Krypton visit but they did so its only 2 and half hours. We have a lot of characters in this movie. Dent, Joker, maybe even Penguin and I'm sure a more developed Gordon. Could this be the first 3 hour superhero film and if so are you for or against it?

I'm all for it, bring it ON!

3 hours is a bit excessive. I would not mind an extended cut on DVD though. I wouldn't mind it one bit.

No, I don't think so actually. What we know of the plot is complex (in a good way), but not quite to the point that it'd require three hours of screentime to tell the whole story.

But if it does end up being that long, am I for it or against? It depends. It depends on whether or not it needs to be that long. It depends on how it's paced and so on. But, assuming it was done well, I really wouldn't have a problem with it.

It would probably hurt it's box office considerably, though.

Come on... three hours of the goddamn Batman will be the best.
It'll also help us get through the extra 2~3 years we'll have to wait for the third flick to come out.

I'm sure the rough one'll be atleast 3...but I'm sure WB will make them trim down to 2 1/2

Doubt it. People thought that Superman Returns was really long. Stick to the same lengh as Batman Begins.

It'll probably be the same as BB. Basically the same amount of story and introduction of characters. But the more the better :)

More characters won't do jack. Oh please. There was HOW many top teirs and major characters in BB? Yea. Okay. I'd be completely surprised if they did this. 3 hours IS too much.

BB got an incredible amount done with its shorter screen time. SR got considerably less done with a longer screen time, longer doesnt always equal better, and if the story doesnt require 2 1/2 hours dont put it up there.

Keep in mind that Batman's origin is out of the way. A huge chunk os BB was used for that and it still did a damn good job establishing all characters, good and bad. I'm betting that TDK will clock in somewhere between 2 and 2 1/2 hours at the very most.

3 hours is too much especially considering that the 3rd movie continues the story of TDK.

Three hours might be too much. If they go too long than a lot of people might loose intrest or start asking, "When will this be over" a 2 1/2 hr. runtime is ideal, maybe a little less than that.

No.

But, a 3 hour version on a SE EC DVD will be fine with me!

I'm in favor of them as long as the pacing is good. I'd like to see each SH film treated as an epic story. . .since they really are, but I'm not sure it will happen.

Today's audiences tend to go for 90min - 120min viewings. Studios also favor shorter films for multiple reasons: Cheaper production costs, more daily theater showings, less time involved to construct and coordinate, etc. . .

Since these things usually leave us with a gap of 3 or 4 years inbetween, the longer the better imo. Although, I don't want to see a long film with a crap load of filler. If every scene has a purpose that directly correlates to the movie, then I'm all for it.

Doubt it. Three hours is just too long. In fact one problem with Batman Begins was that it moved rather slowly at the beginning, and definitely could've been shorter.

WHAT!!?
let's make it an even 5.
5 hours of Bale...

No. No need to be 3 hours. The same time length as 'Batman Begins' is sufficient.

Batman Begins was 2hrs 20mins so stick to them. I had friends who thought BB was too long.

3 hours is a bit much. However long BB was, that'll do.

if the movie is properly paced, 3 hours wouldnt seem that long.

Yes it would. Maybe not to us fanboys who love the character to death, but to the average Joe and their kids it would. 3 hrs on dvd would be awesome, but 2 1/2 hrs max at the theaters please.
