I don't think it was a lie. Frisco kid seems to have been a failure and is 32 years old. Not a movie that sticks in the mind. Probably just slipped the writters mind.

I just found out that Robert Downey Jr. Was supposed to play Daniel Craig's character, but backed out to do Sherlock Holmes 2. Can't really imagine him in this movie. I have a feeling more people would go see it though. I'm glad he backed out though because I love his sherlock holmes.

^They won't unless this movie suprises with it's opening weekend and or legs. It will probably do decently internationally but nothing special because Westerns are more of an American thing.

just got back from the midnight showing. This is in my top three movies of the summer. not only is this film awesome, a visual treat, but it's a damn well made movie. Daniel Craig is the baddest man in this film and he owns it every time he's on screen, I'm glad Downey didn't do this because he wouldn't have been half as good as Craig is in this role. If you were interested in checking it out, I highly recommend it.

Yeah this flick is pure fun. Best movie of the Summer? No, that goes to either XMFC or Super 8. This has what you want in a summer movie a fresh take on an existing genre, action, wittiness and Big Names. I hope it performs well and I hope they don't try to make a franchise out of this because it works perfect as a one and done. Favreau really shows his ability to direct any type of movie here. At times I swore that this couldn't be the guy who did Elf and Iron Man. Good stuff, go enjoy it with your dad or best bud.

horrible movie, really mining for gold was the best idea they could have come up with? How did he escape with the weapon, was there only one alien watching the base..... so many cliche things a guy who cant shoot the whole movie but at the end saves the day, a boy who gets a knife it was obvious he was going to use it....

I heard one reviewer compare it to Stargate and ID4 in how smart or not smart the plot is. That's fine by me because those films are a blast. I am just about sold on this.

I agree with most of what was said here. I actually put in my top 4, I forgot about super 8, I think that's the best movie of the summer. It looks from the critics they wanted something silly and goofy and everyone involved plays this pretty close to straight the entire film. This isn't a big budget version of planet terror, it's a sci fi version of a good western.
