This is gonna be one of those flicks that you look forward to for the visuals as much as the cast, maybe even moreso. Seeing a live action 1800's wild west set with aliens invading it and running around is gonna be crazy. Couple that with native americans going buck wild (excuse the pun) on them with their weapons alongside the cowboys, and goddaaaamnnnnn. :hehe:

I think when people first hear the plot they think "that's stupid." But I have faith that this could work. I mean is there anything about the people involve that make you go "meh?"

it might hearken back to the old days of Speilberg's Summer flicks: good ole fun.

Front page updated with a synopsis of the film.

1873. Arizona Territory. A stranger (Craig) with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution don't welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Ford). It's a town that lives in fear.
But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known.

Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where he's been, he realizes he holds a secret that could give the town a fighting chance against the alien force. With the help of the elusive traveler Ella (Olivia Wilde), he pulls together a posse comprised of former opponents—townsfolk, Dolarhyde and his boys, outlaws and Apache warriors—all in danger of annihilation. United against a common enemy, they will prepare for an epic showdown for survival.

I like Harrison Ford's role, sounds like Gene Hackman's role in The Quick and the Dead. Off the top of my head I can't think of any roles where Ford played a bad guy, nice change for him.

I can't wait to see Olivia Wilde in this as well. Doubtful she'll be wearing what Megan Fox has on in Jonah Hex but you can always dream.

if this movie makes money then the general public will suprise me.

For better of for worse..? Reading that description I really feel this movie could go either way at this point, from outright terrible to a blast of irreverence.

depends how the movie will look.

i just dont see how you can make this a normal bluckbuster.

sounds like an over the top movie :hehe:

The talent is rock solid. The plot is outrageous, but that's in Favreau's hands to make it work. That first trailer is either going to turn people on or off to it. Because this is something that will be one or the other.

In response to what dark_b said about it probably being over the top. I actually can visualize this film being serious rather than campy.

Rockwell better dance. That's all I'm saying. He better dance all over Daniel Craig.

I think we'll see Olivia Wilde in a Cowgirl's outfit.

Is Rockwell confirmed as being in this? If so I am deffo watching it no matter what.

i hope that Rockwell didnt realize that you can make millions and have a huge house by starting only in blockbusters .

Rockwell danced on Fallon last night, it was epic...

With such a great cast and over the top plot, this has the potential to be incredibly entertaining. :woot:

He turns out to be the murderer in
What Lies Beneath.

It'll have that feeling that we kind of wanted Spielberg's War of the Worlds to have had he shot it as a period piece.

Well, that looks like a cowboy, alright. Now show me an alien!

I don't think that's Craig. The frame is a little smaller.
