I saw the trailer attached to DH pt.1 and I really liked what I saw. The rest of the audience laughed and called it stupid because of the title:whatever:

Pfft...they're one to talk. :o

Its the only one that got the theater at my harry potter viewing to talk. They clapped because of the sheer awesomeness of the idea

The title did come off as a bit humorous at the end of the trailer, which is strange because I was familiar with the title. I think because the tone was so serious, seeing those words come up at the end was a bit jarring.

Not to burst your bubble, but no one in the theater was dressed up or seemed like the traditional HP fan. The theater was mostly casual fans of the HP movies/general moviegoers so they didn't really have that rabid fanboy/fangirl mentality when they saw the trailer. Nonetheless, I really don't care if they thought they title was stupid because I could tell the trailer stirred some interest until the title appeared.

LOL, brilliant. Too bad that Cowboys & Aliens doesn't have its own forum... we could start an entire thread devoted to alternate titles for this film.

3:10 to Uranus

Hell Bent for Lasers

1863: A Space Odyssey

How the West Stood Still

Cowboys & Illegal Aliens (endorsed by John McCain)
"No Planet for Old Aliens."

"Dance with Aliens."

"From Lasers till Spaceships."

"The Extraterrestrial Seven."

"Independence Standoff."

"Battle: Old West."

"Close Encounters of the Bullet Kind."

"Shootout of the Worlds."

for some reason when it showed the title for this movie everyone started applauding.

there should be MORE literal titles not LESS

die hard - 'beat down cop takes back hostage tower'

lethal weapon - 'cops who hate each become friends while taking down bad guys'

superman - 'alien in tights'

batman - 'human in tights'

for some reason when it showed the title for this movie everyone started applauding.

Then they must've got the juxtaposition of the tongue-in cheek title vis-a-vie the serious way the film takes itself. Mission accomplished....for them.

I cut up your human specimens....I CUT THEM UP!!!!!!

Do people really do that?

Like the only time I've heard people in a theater do anything other than laugh was when a trailer for one of them Twilight films was shown before Iron Man 2 and some girls screamed and then me and my mate boo'd.

It just sounds odd to me that people would applaude a trailer in a cinema...

Yeah, we get that once in a blue moon over here if it's a trailer featuring a classic franchise getting the big screen treatment. I remember when the trailer for TMNT 2007 showed during one late showing, it got hoots and hollers for a good minute.

Are you English? If so, that's why you never hear people cheer.

I'm Scottish. But that makes sense, the British as a people are less impressed by moving picture shows. Most people react to any trailer with "yes..." or "****e"

"Cowboy's and Aliens"

British guy- *dry* Yes.....job well done"

Add in Conan O'brien's sarcastic applause

Aussies are the same, we generally don't applaud or go ape crazy over trailers.

Nah everyone in my theatre laughed too. It is a pretty dumb title. The movie has Ford and Craig in it so it is already sounding awesome but the title is laughable. Anybody would laugh if an action/mystery trailer came on and then the title was Cops and Werewolves.

Yeah, people applaud at the end of good trailers and/or at the end of a good film.

Why do ppl from ur part of the world have to enlongate what you are saying? Jut say movies and be done with it. LOL
Well with that I was taking the piss to make people who applaud look stupid and generally unintelligent.

Why? It's not like a play where the cast and crew are there and can enjoy your praise for the hard work they've done. A premier showing I could understand since many of the people who worked on the movie will be there and enjoy the praise.

I just think that if I started to clap my hands together shouting "BRILLIANT!!" at the end of Spider-man I'd have gotten done for causing a public disturbance.

the title is like Ronseal..... it does what it says on the tin.....

Even though the people who made it aren't there, doesn't mean we can't show our appreciation. We just do.

I saw Deathly Hallows today, but we didn't get the trailer. :csad:

Try Japan.

In Denmark and Sweden that is considered molestation.:o
