Meh I dont get annoyed. That's their opinion I dont see the point of getting annoyed by that

BUt I do see/hear a lot of people saying they think it'll be stupid

Anyone else getting bombarded by annoying people who won't shut up about how stupid they think this film looks?

Look, it might be terrible. We don't know yet. But I went with some friends to see Harry Potter the other day and they were all trashing this movie, saying it looked dumb, blah blah blah. And yet one of them called Battle:LA a good movie while the other one was drooling over The Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

Now, "Apes" looks okay and Battle:LA wasn't horrible but I think that if you're open minded enough to accept a movie that was essentially just a trying to be Black Hawk Down with aliens or a film about apes taking over the world, I don't see why a sci-fi western is such a silly concept.

I'm pretty sick of people b******* about the title and how they think it'll flop.

Seriously Cowboys & Aliens is a worse title than something like The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1? Or Transformers: Dark of the Moon???

I'm looking forward to it and I'll be there on July 29.

Yeah, seriously. Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Rise of the Planet of the Apes are two of the worst titles I have ever heard. They both sound like typographical errors.

Those are pop culture recognizable though, that's the thing. This is based on a comic, but no one is familiar with it all that much.

Well, that is true. But the "Weird West" concept is nothing new.

Been hearing its pretty mediocre from the comic-con premiere.

Saw the entire movie at the premiere. What a treat. I really liked it. I'll answer any questions anyone has.

Is the film worth the price of admission?

Is it just good or does it step into greatness?

Time will tell how this does. But Premiering this at a place where any fan boy at Comic Con could see it could work against it as I doubt the General Public would trust fan boy reviews. So time will tell with this movie

I am definitely not a "fan boy". The people who won were mostly just lucky because they won a golden ticket.

To be honest, the movie was good. It was solid. It wasn't mind blowing, but I really liked it. Most people who saw it also agree with me as well, but being there and having that whole experience may skew my thoughts of the movie as well.

Btw, meet John Favreau for a few seconds. Just a wonderful guy.

How did you like Harrison Ford? Did he have good chemistry with Craig? How were the effects?

I really liked Ford. I haven't really seen much of him other than Star Wars and Jones, but he was a great fit for his character. Craig was just a badass. The star of the film. I really enjoyed every time he was on the screen. I'd say the effects were solid. Some of the story line got a little out of hand, which had some strange/cheesy effects, but for the most part they were fine.

Just depends. If you are a movie guy, then yeah it's worth the price of admission. If you are looking for a masterpiece, C&A isn't that. But I really liked it, and may watch it again in theaters if the opportunity presents itself.

Like I said before, I'm not a fan boy. Most people who won these tickets didn't even have any knowledge of this movie. The only thing that could have influenced our opinion is Favreau. He was really nervous about this film and wanted to see how we liked it. He is just such a wonderful person it was hard to hate his film. But I think I'm being honest by saying it's a solid good movie.

glad you liked it - are there any other reviews or reactions around? Don't really feel like searching through thousands of tweets lol

Heh. If the title "Cowboys & Aliens" wasn't there, you might easily assume that picture is depicting a lynch mob.

If I hadn't taken American History II earlier this Summer, I probably wouldn't even know what that was. :woot:

All the marketing seems to be pushing the "Cowboys" part of the title, and not really the "Aliens" part. People want a money shot in the trailer. They want to see alien destruction and humans banding together. There isn't really that sense of epic-ness in the marketing I've seen. I'm guessing it'll do like Super 8, which also seemed to forgo the alien in the marketing in order to play up the mystery aspect.

Yeah, that is the only thing really keeping me interested right now, aside from Favs directing. I know in the book the aliens had a certain design, I want to see how they look.

Don't believe a single good thing you hear about the script or character development of next weekend's sci-fi western.

Twitter review: Cowboys and Aliens is shooting blanks. Boring, horrible script, bad editing, Craig sounds like he was ADR'd. Hated it.

That COWBOYS AND ALIENS embargo didn't stick, huh?

Peter Sciretta (Slash Film)
Cowboys & Aliens was okay, but nothing special.

#sdcc any cinephile or western lover should see cowboys + aliens; craig and ford carry it. CG aliens are less interesting.

Hmmm Cowboys & Aliens was good not great, I thought. Some cool moments, Daniel Craig kicks ass, I miss seeing Harrison Ford in movies.

Wow. I did not expect that at all. I thought the film looked excellent, actually.

Really surprised right now at the critics' reaction. I still want to check it out, though.
