whats funny is that if Bay would make the same movie the same who liked it would nitpick about it. but hey this movie has Indiana Jones and James Bond and our Marvel guy si directing it.

sorry dont buy it.
Hey! For once I agree with you! This movie was just as lifeless and about as much character development as any of the Transformers movies....what makes this one so different? Other then it's boring as hell....and the action is neither interesting to watch, or cool.

Anyone catch Harrison on Conan tonight? Pretty funny. The Smurfs was a very major point of the interview, haha.

Case in point?

At the end of Harrisons segment, Conan hands him a Papa Smurf stuffed doll.

...Harrison says he's going to take it home to his son...as he rips its head off. :woot:

Saw it.

Harrison to audience

"Where were you this weekend?"

Solid 7

Compared to the rest of the crap fest of CB movies this summer, I liked this one very much.

You thought Thor&Cap were crap and less than a 7 rating??

I enjoyed this movie more than any of the others I saw this summer. Cap, Thor, GL and X-Men: FC were good but I didn't enjoy them the way I did this one. Ford and Craig were awesome in this movie!

I hate to see Harrison Ford disappointed and everything, but how much money did they ever expect this thing to make? It does not have a big appeal.

I give it a solid 7 as well.

Like most have said, the plot is ridiculous, silly, and predictable.

But the performances and all around fun makes up for it. Entertaining. Weak story.

I didn't really get what the aliens were doing on Earth. Mining gold? What do aliens need gold for? Not to mention that they could just go get it on Mars, where no cowboys would be shooting at them. I'm probably over thinking this.

I'm not expecting anything more than a b movie. I stayed away this weekend because people seemed disappointed but I still want to see it.

I can agree with you on GL, but Thor, First Class, and Capt. America are crap?

Thor certainly was as weak as GL in story, action and dialogue, but it at least had the benefit of better acting and a character that was different than most other superheroes. GL was the most basic, obvious, confused superhero origin story probably ever. Thor was just lame, which is less of an offense.

I could even see people not liking Cap for being too Saturday morning cartoon-ish -- though I loved it -- but thinking First Class was crap really is going too far.

Well I don't think he expected to go neck and neck with ****ing Smurfs, that's for sure.

I give it a 7; well made but it was missing something. I also thought the plot of the aliens was hamfisted and their designs generic. It's as if all the designers in Hollywood went and studied under Neville Page.

Finally saw this & it was okay

Anyone know if the aliens in this movie have action figures or will? They had great designs and I'd love to own a detailed and movie-accurate figure of one.

Yes. But they are made by Medicom. A company who makes cartoony looking 11" (not 12" inch) figures that cost well over 200 bucks.

Just saw C&A. It was okay. Pretty entertaining and the action sequences were surprisingly fun. However, it worked better as a build up in the first act than when it became a chase. I give 'em credit for killing off Olivia Wilde/love interest and going for the stoic-Shane like ending. Craig and Ford were good, but needed more screentime together.

6/10

It was solid, but it could have been better.

I found some pictures of Jake and Dolarhyde's Medicom figures but not of the aliens.

Saw this earlier today. It was okay. Not great, but still fun.

For anyone who's read the comic, was it loyal? Or was it just the same concept?

I'd say the movie borrowed equally from the comic and the original screenplay (see the link I posted in this thread), much to its detriment. Mainly I wondered why the aliens would travel all this way to mine gold and face pesky insects (us) when they could just tiptoe on over to any uninhabited rocky planet (and we know they're out there, so they certainly would) or even, dare I suggest it, the asteroid belt?

They would've had a much better movie if they'd used the original script.

The aliens & actions were cool. But the guy with no memory thing & changes his ways at the end after getting his memories back part bored me to death. I guess because there have been so many movies that use that story

i dont read threads when the movie is out. because i know that someone could spoil something. so i am not angry because of me. but someone else is not like this and maybe checked something since the movie is not out yet.

talking how you spoiled without any warning that Wilde dies. :woot:

saw this yesterday and i thought it was a pretty good movie. nothing special but Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde, and Sam Rockwell made this movie for me. i couldn't have cared less for Daniel Craig though. Favreau is a great director who's movies are energetic because they're FUN. unfortunately, Daniel Craig didn't deliver in this sense. not sure if he should just stick to playing serious characters or if that's how Favreau decided to make him act....but i don't think i could have found Jake any LESS interesting. i know amnesia erases your memories but i didn't know it also erases your personality or charisma.

anyway, i'd rate it a solid 7. would've gotten an 8 if the leading man were more memorable.
