I'm excited for that Boyhood release. I remember before the film was even released both Linklater and Criterion said they wanted to make it happen but Paramount wasn't playing ball.

I dig the cover. Basically something like this should have been the poster.

The title did this movie a disservice. For all the accolades and hype the film got there was a lot of criticism and snark of "Boyhood? The boy doesn't even do anything!" This movie was supposed to be titled "Twelve Years" but had to change very late in the game due to Twelve Years A Slave. The change to Boyhood put a major focus on Mason but the film, especially in the first half is very much about the mother character. It's just like yeah the 6 year old kid doesn't have much going on...because he's along for the ride through his mother's struggles.

Sorry for the mini rant. I think separated from the hype, time will be kind to Boyhood. Losing the Oscar was probably the best thing for it.

Bought these this past weekend:

Morricone track playing in the background and a busty blonde pointing at her chest calls me over.

I stand corrected.

I ended up at a bizarre roadside game and movie store that was also a lawn mower repair garage. Seriously. It is called "Grumpy Bob's Emporium."

Anyways I found a DVD copy of Criterion's release of the director's cut of Robocop for 4 dollars.

Paul's finally in the collection! I'll be glad to finally have Punch Drunk Love on blu ray. I'm a little bummed PTA didn't do a commentary though...

These are also coming out in November:

Lawd.

Lone Wolf and Cub is an instant buy for me. Also, bit of trivia, one of the films in that collection is referenced by name by the bride at the end of kill bill2, the film her daughter asks to see before going to bed.

Already on preorder on my end. Hnnnngh.
