Critics' Reviews: Discussion

<chants> Reboot to Marvel. Reboot to Marvel. Reboot to Marvel . . . .

The Adamantium bullet this was incredibly stupid...
He should have been electrocuted or something ....
And his unconscious body gets violently thrown into the sea...

We don't even see him after that... then CREDITS and we get the scene in Japan....

I think it will get ok word of mouth from joe public. I doubt they will really be bothered about the plot holes and the convenience of the story. They just want some action and all that. And I reckon the kiddies will love it. Which is a bad and good thing. Bad because it should be rated R anyway really, good because kids means a lot of money.

I really thought they were going to use Stryker's son for mind control and fake memories. It's so obvious--they wouldn't even have had to create a new character or method. :(

We do see him after he is shot.

There is a few dark things in the film. Certain scenes in the montage. The village scene in Lagos. The human experimentation thing. The reason why Wraith, Blob and Bradley left Weapon X and the way they deal with the events is pretty adult. (Turning to booze and other comfort things)

But it just doesn't have that bite. Well Logan doesn't.

That doesn't mean any sense...

Amnesia was required, not fake memories...

Your selling the GA a bit short on their expectations for comic book adaptations. They will be able to recognize that this isn't the same in quality in comparison to TDK and IM. Word of mouth I think will definitely have an effect on this movies legs for the second week.

And that's the problem. That's the thing with Logan--it doesn't matter where he is, he always has that bite, even if he's playing around with a bunch of kids in the Power Pack crossovers.

They missed the boat.

Well yea their expectations would have risen since TDK and to an extent Iron Man (which isn't no where near as deep as people like to pretend). But I just think the actual performances from most of the actors and the action set pieces will impress them. The plot holes aren't gaping I don't think. Just little annoying things that could of been easily prevented.

IMO, the thing is that, with the X-Movies (even X3), you had these amazing displays of power, and some really good action scenes. Even if the ation on X3 was rushed, it was still in an epic proportion, and involved characters we learned to love. You had people who loved each one of those characters, that would watch the movies just to see them.

Wolverine didn't have that. On the other hand, he had an entire movie to explain his story and get deeper in his own world, and...it just didn't deliver. It's like everything that happened in this movie has no substance at all...i don't know, it just gave me that feeling. They could have gone deep inside his roots, yet he's almost fluffier than in X3.

I thought the action in this was much better(especially the Wade Wilson scene which was all really done by Reynolds, just had some CGI sparks and sword blurs). But the bridge moving scene in X3 was brilliant.

It is silly to believe that every comicbook movie will have the same word of mouth and legs of the first two Spider-Man flicks, Iron Man, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. (add X-Men and X2 to the list as eventhough that had terrible legs they were well received)

It's clear that people like certain comicbook movies more than others, this isn't just a fanboy thing. TIH fans were sure that it would have massive legs/ word of mouth and it didn't.

I don't think anyone likes Iron Man because its a deep movie, but more because its a great example of a really good comic book movie.

Na some people think it was deeper than it was.

But yea I love Iron Man. But that was mainly due to the absolutely brilliant performances from RDJ and Bridges.

It's true. It's not hefty, but it's hilarious. More than anything, it establishes exactly who Tony Stark/Iron Man is.

Not to mention how many goodies it included for us fans. Captain America's shield, the awesome technology . . . .

I think Wolverine at least deserves a 50%, but we shall see. And yes every comic book movie sense TDK and IM will be expected to perform in areas that they did. And when they don't, people will be let down. Last year really set the stage of expectation for comic book movies, which in the long run I hope is a good thing. And TIH...I loved it, and even though it didn't make as much money, people consider it a success because...it was a good movie.

Oh my god.... does Ebert have adamantium claws? Cause he just ripped this movie a new one. [/Newscaster attempting humor]

My expectations for comicbook movies didn't raise last year and I loved TDK and Iron Man.

Just my 0.2cents.

He's a Coming Soon critic.

http://www.comingsoon.net/news/reviewsnews.php?id=55033

He seems like a nice guy so no offense but I often disagree with his opinions.

I'm pretty sure he gave GhostRider a favorable review and thats a no, no in my book.

And he's one of the few critics that I agree with most of the time - although I don't think I ever read the Ghost Rider review.

I read that review this morning, I thought it was a pretty fair review.
