Gotham curiosity re: Ed Nygma

I do wonder the possibility if there any correlation between the original writers choice to the name Ed Nygma and Hitlers infamous Enigma cryptograph machine? Just a wonder perhaps worth a ponder if anyone knows the original causality behind the choice of the name.

I think it's just a spin on the word Enigma (Edward Nygma, E. Nygma) more than anything else, but to be honest I don't know much about how Riddler was conceptualized so I suppose it could be true?

just put the fact the name was that of the 'impossible to crack" puzzle box kinda made sense in my head lol but like many things thats where the sense stayed haha
