D.J. Caruso lands 'Killer' gig
Filmmaker to direct New Line fantasy drama
By MICHAEL FLEMING

D.J. Caruso is up for slaying giants.
New Line has set him to direct "Jack the Giant Killer," a drama that takes an adult look at the Jack and the Beanstalk legend.

When a princess is kidnapped, a long-standing peace between men and giants becomes threatened, and a young farmer is given an opportunity to lead a dangerous expedition to the giant kingdom to rescue her.

Mark Bomback ("Race to Witch Mountain") wrote the script. Neal Moritz is producing.

Caruso last directed DreamWorks' "Eagle Eye." It was his second straight collaboration with Shia LaBeouf, who toplined the Caruso-directed "Disturbia."

I'll bet Shia's going to be in it.

Looks like Y:The Last Man won't start until this is done.

CS: Do you think this might be your next movie or do you think you'll try to make another movie in between?
Caruso: Well, you know, I think we'll probably do one in between if we don't get the script going soon, but we'll see. I have not found a movie that's there yet. I just think if we turn in "Y" after the holiday and it came in and got going quick then it would be up for sure. I'm open to it, but I need to eventually make a living.

I've liked his work on both Disturbia and Eagle Eye. So i'd see it.

I'm a fan of Caruso's work, I loved The Salton Sea and Disturbia and i liked Eagle Eye and Taking Lives, but this honestly doesn't interest me at all. :csad:

Me neither....I'd perfer the other films he's been linked to.

Why not just do a live action version of Jack and the Beanstalk, period?

What a strange idea to try and make a serious movie out of...the idea makes me say, "Really?"

All D.J.'s other work I like but I haven't seen Eagle Eye yet and I really don't have a desire to see it.

When I saw Eagle Eye, I was like "This is the most unoriginal movie in a long time."
