BSG, Excalibur and this? Huh, the man's busy.

Singer should direct Taking Prisoners or whatever that spec script was called.

And it wouldn't hurt to reteam with MQuarrie and restore some dignity to the X-Men franchise with the next Wolverine movie...

All these rumors about what Singer is going to direct next are annoying.

Some talk of (surprise, surprise:o) 3-D and the projected release year.

From the NY Times and Variety:

Published: January 12, 2010

Still, some filmmakers were sufficiently inspired, or jolted, by “Avatar” to shift gears. Shortly after seeing “Avatar” last month, for instance, Bryan Singer, who in the past directed summer blockbusters like “X-Men” and “Superman Returns,” asked New Line to consider using 3-D in filming his planned fantasy “Jack the Giant Killer.” The debate continues, according to people who have been briefed on the matter and spoke on condition of anonymity because of studio policy.

Legendary, under its partnership with Warner Bros., is prepping "Clash of the Titans," "Due Date" and "Inception" for release this year and "Jack the Giant Killer," with Bryan Singer directing, for 2011.

Yeah, 3D is no surprise. My guess is that's what will happen.

This movie sounds like it could be fun. I hope it has giant creatures too.

I will watch pretty much any movie that Singer directs, but, I wish he would do First Class before this, cant wait for him to return to the X-Men world.

Things are heating up a little bit on JGK with news that Emmy winner Gavin Bocquet (Star Wars prequels, Young Indiana Jones, Stardust) is handling the production design duties.

Skouras Agency bookings: production designers Gavin Bocquet on Bryan Singer's "Jack the Giant Killer," David Bomba on Shana Feste's "Love Don't Let Me Down," Jeff Sage on Jake Kasdan's "Bad Teacher" and Neil Spisak on Peter Berg's "Battleship"; d.p. Phil Meheux on Raja Gosnell's "The Smurfs"; and editor Olivier Bugge Coutte on Mike Mills' "Beginners."

With Guy Dyas and Singer's past collaborations in the scifi/fantasy genre this seemed like a great project for them to reunite.:o

i think this is the first time after Avaatr that a director asked for 3D.

He has shown interest in shooting in 3D in the past.Cameron showed him the camera that was ultimately used to shoot Avatar years ago.

Question: Talk about your use of digital and the possibility of 3D conversion.

Singer
: We've discussed an IMAX version. As far as a 3D version, I have to see the demonstrations of how to do that without shooting it that way. In theory, the real way to do 3D it shooting 3D, with appropriate ocular placements, two lens attached to the medium. Jim Cameron is shooting Battle Angel in 3D. He's shown me the camera; it's quite extraodinary.

LA Times article on lead role and producer Neal H. Moritz talks visuals, 3D and more.

From LATimes and Collider:
April 14, 2010

"Jack the Giant Killer": Directed by Bryan Singer, this is billed as another cool fantasy thriller, with spectacular-looking 3-D giants, but the lead role will go to an up-and-coming young actor, not a star.
April 11th, 2010

Moritz: The next things for me, the next 3…well I’m making Fast and Furious 5 in June/July. We’re doing Jack the Giant Killer with Bryan Singer in July we start that.

The Bryan Singer Jack the Giant Killer movie. You guys are shooting this summer?

Moritz: We’re shooting in the summer.

Are you shooting that one in 3D or are you doing that one in post?

Moritz: There’s a number of conversations going on right now. We have not made a decision whether we’ll shoot maybe some of the live-action stuff in 3D and then some of the stuff that we create…the green screen stuff not in 2D and then….so Bryan was on a tour last week of all the different 3D houses whether they’d be conversion or actually going to look at all the cameras for 3D and we’re still making a decision about what we can actually do with what ultimately he wants the movie to be.

What can people look forward to with the film? What can you tell people about it?

Moritz: I think it’s an amazing, amazing film that I don’t see any barriers to entering into this movie for anybody. It’s really a movie that takes the Jack and the Beanstalk legend and then the great idea of humans against giants and combining that and having basically a war between humans and giants. And I love the project. It’s like if I had to pick one movie to see today, that would be the movie I’d want to see. I so much want to see what that movie ultimately becomes. We did a huge presentation for Warner Brothers and New Line and I saw all the visuals, some test stuff that we did and really the visuals are so phenomenal. It feels like a Lord of the Rings epic type movie.

Bryan Singer directing lord of the rings style action? I can almost guarantee you that over a quarter of it will end up on the editing floor with millions spent wasted.

Singer's action skills are horrible. The movie might be great to watch like X-2 but the action will just not be up to standard... just like... oh yah X-1 and X-2

Kill yourself. The White House attack and the mansion breach in X2 are among the best action scenes in comic films.

Like Ali G says, talking to yourself again? lol

White House Attack the only good scene.... Mansion breach was boring, static and unexciting.... Yay the Wolverine show

the finale was dull as ever making each character fight his/her own enemy instead of what should have been a great massive Group action scene like all the great X-men battles in the comics and cartoons... but no... stupid individual vs individual fight scenes, lame, stupid disappointing climax... there was no excitement

X-3 was a horrible film but at least there was an ATTEMPT at a group battle scene and felt more X-menish despite the film's last huge group battle scene being horribly directed by Brett Ratner... at least he tried, Singer is just useless in that way

I still expect a solid story with terrific visuals and unique concepts and very strong performances, but the action scenes I think for the most part will be incredibly lame, lackluster and unimaginative

Well, that's you're first problem. You were expecting it to happen. People should know, especially with adaptations that when having expectations for something can end up in disapointment because you wanted to see something, and that usually never happens. Just go with what's presented and judge it from that alone.

Colossus busting that dude was awesome.

Singer doesn't do frantic action scenes. You are right. He makes sure you understand what exactly is going on. So he divided the X-men into smaller duos.

I bet he will be able to pull it off, since there is only one real hero apparently. He was ready to use the Sentinels.

Those X3 fights were terrible. He basically had cool moments wrapped in franctically, poorly thought out group action scenes.
