I'd gladly trade Nixon for Dwight D. Eisenhower.

I'd take Eisenhower over most presidents, Republican or Democrat.

Although, he did do some things that royally ****ed up the world. He set back Iranian democracy and gave us the world we have today, and he put "Under God" into the pledge of allegiance.

Possibly one of the most convenient Eisenhower quotes:

Eisenhower said:
Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things. Among them are H. L. Hunt, a few other Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or business man from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid.

Global warming isn't real. The earth goes through cooler periods (ice age) and warmer periods (now). We've only been taking accurate temperatures in the last 100 years out of the billions of years the Earth has existed.

True, there are times in Earth`s history when the temperature rises. But there are high amounts of Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere, this does not happen normally.Especially if you can trace these gases to fossil fuels.

^Look at this map, nearly the entire US sea board will be wiped out.The green areas?I can imagine that will become rain forest areas,or swamps. The United States will become a smaller country, since i dont know how swamps can be used to house people.

It's hot everywhere! The Globe is warming, green house gasses are being used irresponsibly. We may not be ****ed that bad, but our kids are, and their kids, unless we do something about this.

Go see An Inconvenient Truth, it's excellent.

I'm going to plant some trees.

Good man,i dont hear talk like that much.Your thinking long term, which is good. You can honestly say to other people that you helped save the world,or your country at least.

Also, it doesn't change the fact that conservative's today arepretending Global Warming isn't real.

How can you explain the US being the only modern country who hasn't passed Kyoto? How dod you explain that the US cities that support Kyoto are notoriousley on the left?

I dont know why people would think that this could be made up.A reason could be that people cant cope with the fact that humans are powerful enough to effect a entire planet, think about that.

The only reason why the USA did not agree to the Kyoto Bill was that it would have to nearly cut its gas comsomption in half, imagine that. The USA consumes more than 3x what it produces, the country will be effectively crippled.

Another reason is big bussiness, money is at stake, and its often been an American reason to put profit first, lives second.

What if the country floods, and billions of people die? What then? Will people just shrug it off,and try to do something,or storm the place where Bush is hiding, and drag him through the streets to be hanged in public. If America does not do something, then floods, and the notion "what you do to others, happens to you" will come back to it.Yes,America will pay the Grim Reaper in full.

This is an excellent post. I'm glad that someone agrees and can see that this problem is very real. It shouldn't even be an issue of right and left, but it should be an issue of right and wrong. It should be a very clear issue.
Unfortunatly we have rich oil tycoons running the show who don't care.

It's 1:15 AM in Los Angeles right now, and it's about 80 outside.

Pickle, I know what you mean. I have the window down and the "cool air" is hot air. It feels like mid day of the fall.

:O

That is so that we Kansans will still have a place to dump our trash LOL

Does anyone find it a bit strange that the head of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works is Sen. James Inhofe, an ultra-conservative who believes that global warming is "the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people” and has compared it to the lies told by the Nazi's during the Holocaust? Was he appointed by Bush to lead this committee?
