Does anyone else have this problem? Lately I've found that a lot of the furniture I've bought is damaged. It's never from the same store or anything. Tonight I bought a bookcase for my room. I spent forever assembling almost the entire thing, then when I went to put on a part, the wood frickin crumbled. Turned out that piece was damaged...looked almost like water damage. It's one of those things that can't be UN-assembled, though...so somehow I'm going to have to load up a majority-assembled bookcase into a small ass car and return it. I'm very frustrated :cmad:

Just a few weeks ago I bought two folding room dividers for $500 to decorate my living. As I was moving them in a set them up nicely and left the room. Later I go in there to see the hinges completely broken off, strangely, like water damage caused the wood to break, loosening the hinges. I was pretty upset. They were beautiful, too :csad:

Damn, that sucks. I hope you were able to return them (and I hope I can return mine too :csad:). I feel like things in general just aren't well made or well packaged anymore, it's SOOO irritating.

I have no idea if I can. I haven't gotten around to returning it yet, but I plan on doing so sometime this week. I hope you can return your bookshelf, too.

As far as quality, totally agree. Not the same as it use to be. But it also might depend where you bought it.
