Animation Dan Trachtenberg’s animated Predator: Killer of Killers

FYI, Co-Director Josh Wassung and the animation Studio Third Eye handle pre-vis for a lot of blockbusters. IE animated storyboards for the big action scenes.

This was awesome. I want to l rewatch immediately. Awesome new predator designs, exciting action sequences. This would have been glorious in live action.

Regarding the ending, I wonder if we’ll see Nara and Ursa pop up in Badlands? Elle Fanning’s android character can help with the language barrier

I really enjoyed the first half, especially the Japanese setting. Amazing creature design and overall fights. The Predators constantly being defeated by their own weaponry is getting tiresome though. Is this just a thing now where the Predators get by on advance technology instead of strategy? The second part kind of lost me. Despite winning his battle I don't see why Torres was added to the fray despite not showing any fight capabilities for example. Anyway, solid watch.

Watching the last segment with the Warlord and that's unexpected. Then to see hundreds, possibly thousands of captive prey human and alien for them to use in their gladiator type arena, and of course Naru was shown, which brings up, are Dutch and Harrigan there too, or soon to be? Given how Predator 2 ended, it's odd they didn't take him captive right then and there.

Anyhow, it's surprisingly good for fan service. Would definitely watch a sequel, and own it on 4k if they do a Blu-ray release like Prey.

Awesome stuff especially the ninja/samurai segment and I really loved how they expanded on the Predator lore and that we actually got to see a bit more of their homeworld.

Also, that ending was super interesting and I'm guessing we'll get
somekind of payoff to that in Badlands or if not atleast in a Predator movie in the very near future.

Well, I had a great time. Still not entirely sold on the final segment, but it was quite fun.

First off, congratulations to Michael Biehn to joining Bill Paxton as an actor to connect Alien, Predator, and Terminator franchises.

I loved the three main segments, but I feel that the Sword segment was the strongest. Essentially silent, and some great musical beats, I loved it. Plus, pretty certain that was a Super Predator, so nice to see them again.

I liked that they kept the cloaking effect we saw in Prey for the 2 entries that was before it.

I am not entirely sold on the idea at the end, but I think there is absolutely some conversations being had with Arnold, Brody, and Braga. Maybe Glover, but he is pretty damn old. Sorry Holbrook, no liked your terrible movie, no one wants you back. And I doubt it will be something in Badlands. If anything, that teaser is hinting at Prey 2, which I have mixed feelings about.

So many amazing Predator designs and weapons though.

Yeah this was solid fun, some bits worked better than others but this was a good way to get the Predator in several different time periods that people wanted, the Viking and Japan sections were great but I did also enjoy seeing some Predator ship combat to change things up even if the Torres character seemed to have some pretty severe plot armor.

The sections felt quite brief so it was hard to really get invested in the various characters too much but the action was really well done and animation was really nice in parts.

The best bit though was seeing my girl Naru again though in storage, not sure what it is teasing or setting up but she HAS to come back at some point and when her music kicked in briefly I got chills again and I must go and watch Prey for 200th time.

Clearly Trachtenberg knows this world and loves it, it certainly makes me more interested in Badlands too to see what he can cook up in live action again.

You think it was cause he was too old…for this **** maybe?!

But seriously now you mention
Predator 2 ending my brain trying to canonically explain why he wasn’t taken there and then now…

It's kind of amusing how Disney can't handle a single thing not being part of an interconnected cinematic universe. It's... tired. Beyond that, Killer of Killers has a lot of cool action and beautiful visuals. The characters are light on substance, but I liked the play on tropes with the Viking woman and her son.

Really liked Prey, but admittedly never cared about the Predator franchise beyond that. This was neat, though!

remember in Predators they said that there might be different tribes of Yaujta...so maybe that hunting band saw Harrigan winning differently

That doesn't quite add up...
The gun from Predator 2 had it's origin in Prey, then showed up in Killer of Killers. So why would one tribe take the gun trophy from another to give it to another human that won their hunt?

80s Predators chilled out a bit.

@Teelie this is all your own fault for daring to think about things. Stop it! :o

This was a lot of fun. As someone who wasn’t interested in the Predator as a kid, Trachtenberg has really made me invested in the mythology. Love the different designs and the action was terrific. Really looking forward to Badlands and whatever comes next.

Have you seen how wildly different human groups themselves are? Lol

Another underrated thing about this movie is bringing back motifs of the OG theme, which I think is severely underrated as a theme for a character.
