Sci-Fi Dan Trachtenberg to direct Predator film ‘Badlands’

I hope this film doesn't bomb but I have this sinking feeling it will.

I think it is important to go with realistic expectations. I do think the franchise is in a solid position, but I also think that there is a bit of a limit to how well that goes. Personally, a Romulus type performance will be a big win for me.

Alien blood, laser guns, and space animal death are all fine with PG-13, so I'm not worried.

Yeah, there is only so much you can do to goose the rating up. And really, pushing a PG13 up to R is worse for the movie, imo.

Cool Predators don't look at explosions...they blow things up and walk away

Does anyone else remember Trachtenberg from Geekdrome.

I guess reviews for this drop next week. You can never really rely on initial social media reactions as they tend to lean to the glowing side no matter what it is. Sounds like the more family friendly tone might not be to everyones taste for a Predator film but we've known its rating for a while now.

Finally got round to watching The Predator, sheesh, what a dumpster fire of a movie. Glad I got it out of the way first on the rewatch run. So bad in so many ways its almost impressive.

What’s not to love? Mocking people with mental illness? Predators who apparently ate Super Mario Mushrooms to make themselves twice as big as the normal ones? Autism superpowers? A predator Iron Man suit?

I consider The Predator to be the only actual bad film in the franchise not counting the AvP movies. The others range from good to watchable, and upon a recent rewatch of Predator I found myself thinking "Maybe Prey is the best one in the franchise" but I need to rewatch that one too.
