ScreenDaily.com reports that Daniel Craig (Casino Royale) will star in The Last Samurai and Blood Diamond director Ed Zwick's WWII Polish Resistance epic, Defiance.

Defiance is the true story of four brothers in Nazi occupied Poland who flee to the Belarussian forest with a band of Jews and join forces with Russian Resistance fighters.

Upcoming projects for Craig include The Invasion, The Golden Compass, I, Lucifer and of course, Bond 22.

I like Zwick's movies and Craig is a great first addition to a very interesting sounding movie:up:

Wonderful,Craig and Russians,I shall combust in front of the screen. :O

Liev Schreiber, Jamie Bell, Alexa Davalos and Tomas Arana are joining the cast of the Daniel Craig starrer Defiance for Paramount Vantage. Ed Zwick wrote and is directing the World War II drama, which is based on a true story.

The film revolves around Jewish brothers (Craig, Schreiber and Bell) living in Nazi-occupied Poland who escape into the Belarussian forest where they join Russian resistance fighters in battling the Nazis. Throughout the war, they build a village inside the forest and save the lives of more than 1,200 Jews. Zwick's screenplay is based on Nechama Tec's book "Defiance: The Bielski Partisans."

Davalos will play Lilka, a Polish refugee and the love interest of Craig's character. Arana will play Ben Zion, a skilled leader in the resistance.

I'm glad that Daniel Craig is getting roles off the ying-yang.
Also, Liev Schreiber is cool, too.

ill watching anything with liev or craig....

This doesn't look like my cup of tea... and those accents are ridiculous.

I just saw the trailer for this. Looks awesome! It's nice also to see a different take on a WWII story.

Trailer looks good. Craig and Schreiber don't strike me as brothers, but both have onscreen personas that are serious as a heart attack. I'll see it on DVD, but if I was single I'd see it in the theater. (I'll take the trade)

Thought the trailer was top notch and Schreiber and Craig looked to have nailed the accents....having Zwick direct definately doesn't hurt.

This looks damn good. Definitely a must see for me.

And Daniel Craig loves playing Jews. First 'Munich,' now this.

I don't know how they spoke back then in those areas, but for the film, I thought they sounded fine.

With a director like Zwick and actors like Craig and Schreiber, the film is definitely going to be good.
