I've always been a superman, batman, spiderman, xmen guy but the older i get the more i see the depth of this character.

where do i start?

From the begining?

Just kidding. If you really want to get into the character, I'd say start from the launch of the Marvel Knights. Everything since then has been collected in trade format, and shouldn't be hard to get your hands on. That'll put you through Smith's, Mack's and Bendis' runs and into Brubaker's run.

If you're more into the history of the character, pick up the Marvel Visionaries: Frank Miller trades. Also, the Man Without Fear trade and Born Again.

It really depends on how much you're willing spend.

Pretty much what photo said.

Bendis' stuff with Maleev was classic. You're looking at a good 9 or 10 trades right there. The ones I would pick up if I had to choose would be Underboss,Out,Lowlife,Hardcore,King of Hell's Kitchen, and Murdock Papers.

Brubaker and Lark's run has been ridiculous.Devil In Cellblock D is the direct continuation of Murdock Papers and it's probably one of the best story arcs to recently come out from Marvel.Devil Takes a Ride is the second arc by this team, which requires some knowledge of Bendis' run to understand what the hell is going on.

You should start picking up DD monthly since the current arc is only 3 issues in.

Yeah, Bendis and Brubaker have pretty much made this the most consistently amazing Marvel title in....probably forever. I don't think there's a single issue since Bendis took over that I haven't liked.

Except for the 90's, there is just a ton of good Daredevil stuff out there. If you want cheap and inexpensive, you can start from the beginning without having to spend very much money.

*Essential Daredevil Vol. 1 - 3 (coming soon, Essential DD Vol. 4): These four volumes take you up to issue 100 of Daredevil. You can currently get the first three pretty cheap if you don't my used copies on Amazon. All three would be less than $30.00. Otherwise, full retail is only $16.99 per issue. The problem is some of these early tales aren't as good as what came later.

*Daredevil Visionaries - Frank Miller Vol. 1: This first collection of Frank Miller collects issues 158-161, 163-167. It's a great place to start. Future volumes contain the following: Vol. 2 = 168-182. Vol. 3 = 183-191, Bizarre Adventures 28, and What If 25 & 28.

*Daredevil - Born Again: Another great Frank collection.

I also loved it when Typhoid Mary premiered around Daredevil 254. I know there was on old collection of this story. Plus, Fall of the Kingpin was one of the last great DD adventures until Kevin Smith came along and brought him back to everyone's attention.

Now, the problem with collecting the start of DD's lastest volume is that it's best to start from issue #1 and getting current to today. These stories just build on each other. I'd just try to get all of them on ebay if I were you.

Frank Miller Visionaries Volume 2--it has Frank Miller's first Daredevil writing and the famous death of Elektra
Born Again--a great story by Miller
Daredevil (Vol. 2) Hardcover #2--begins the Bendis run with the Underboss and Out storylines

Thanks guys miller bendis and smith are all names i need to look for. got it.

Don't rule out the Bru.Even though it's recent,it's up to par,if not past.

I've actually been enjoying Brubaker more than Bendis. With Brubaker, we're starting to see some great secondary characters within DD's life, and it seems DD finally has his focus back on Hell's Kitchen. I don't know...for some reason those two things seemed to be lacking lately. (Good to see Turk back.)
