While spying on his father at an abandoned amusement park, teenager Chris Powell discovered a mysterious amulet that, with concentration, transformed him into a powerful android. Suspicious that his father, a policeman, was accepting bribes from a crime boss, Chris vowed to use the amulet as "an edge against crime."

Absolutely, but I'll give any Marvel movie atleast a chance. But it just so happens I like Darkhawk and I have that first issue in that picture, yay!

I think it'd be another Blade situation, just the thing comic movies need, an obscure character with the right filmmakers that could make for a cult success.

I think he has cult written all over him.

I loved Darkhawk when it first came out. I would see it. I like to give all Marvel movies a chance. I've only been disapointed a couple of times.

I would see it always liked him. There was a script someone wrote that I heard they sent in to marvel but the guy who read it hated it sense he always hated darkhawk.

I'd give it a shot, but I think like Blade, Darkhawk would benefit from a re-imagining.

Really I think that costume would look awesome on screen.

I think the second upgraded one would work much better.

I've actually given this some thought in the past. I would definitely see a Darkhawk movie, but I think the character has to be re-tooled a little to make the story more cinematic. The costume is cool, so that doesn't need to be changed all that much, but they'd need to focus on the Darkhawk suit (or "amulet") and the archetypal connections between past wearers and Powell.

I have no idea what the amusement park setting has to do with the origin of the character, so maybe it's thematically important, but if it is, I don't get it. That's something the writers might want to think about as well. There was some big mystery about how Darkhawk didn't truly have a face, so I guess you could do some interesting things with that and a house of mirrors, especially if it's juxtaposed with a scene early on where a regular Powell is surrounded by the same mirrors, but I don't know.

That said, this character is probably too expensive and not popular enough to get his own movie adaptation anytime soon. Who knows, if Marvel's independently produced films are a success and sophisticated technology continues to get cheaper, maybe we'll see a Darkhawk movie someday.

i think the bribes officer powell was taking [or pretending to take] were being paid him at "an abandoned amusement park" because there would be no witnesses present at an ABANDONED PARK
i'd give the film a shot

No need to be insulting. I get that part of the setting anyway. Of course there would be no witnesses at AN ABANDONED PARK, just the fact that it's an abandoned amusement park rather than an abandoned anything else (warehouse, train depot, anything else cliched) seems kind of arbitrary. And maybe it is arbitrary; I allowed for that possibility. It's also a little weird. I don't know where the writer of Darkhawk grew up, but most rinky-dink amusement parks are not permanent fixtures.

I'd love to see a DH film. I'm a huge fan of the character, and have his entire solo run.

I think DH's second costume would work best in a movie personally.

You can read the scriptment deathshead2 was talking about at http://www.knightmare6.com/index2.html, under the "Writings" category. Honestly, it relies too heavily on the comics. Scenes are ripped directly from the first 23 or so issues of DH's solo series, and considering that DH's series, while good, was not exactly classic, it hinders the treatment.

At the core, Darkhawk is a spin on Spider-Man. Whereas Spidey is "With great power comes great responsibility," Darkhawk is "With unlimited power, where does one's responsibility end?" Darkhawk struggled with what his power meant. Does he take the law into his own hands, or aid authorities? How far is too far? That theme could make for a great film.

Playing up that internal conflict can mask the problem that DH's rogues gallery is severly limited. He definitely co-opted villians from other heroes in the crossover-happy 90's, especially Venom. Crimelord Philippe Bazin is probably the best villian he has, and he's simply a power-hungry mafia stereotype.

The whole amusement park thing could be excised. I always thought that storyline played out badly anyway. Chris thought his dad was taking bribes from the mafia, when in fact, a bunch of cops pooled up money and bought a suit of armor from AIM and were going to go vigilante with it. Chris' dad was down at first, then changed his mind. All Chris saw was his dad getting his money back.

Thanks for the info tamron.

Also, I'd like to apologize to you, 3dman, if you're reading. Looking back now I can see how my first comment about the amusement park was kind of vague and I also wasn't sure you insulted me. So I'm sorry for flying off the handle like that, because you didn't deserve it.

Hard to say; maybe. If I liked the approach I would.

I'd definately give Darkhawk a chance if handled well. It'd be nice to see a character other than the usual, (Batman, Superman and Spider-Man) for a change. Darkhawk has an interesting story, cool characters and an awesome costume. Totally underrated character. And if I remember correctly, I think at some point Joe Quesada said he was a useless comic character, which is why I think his series was cancelled. What a dope.

My brother has every issue including annuals, his favorite is DH, so I know he would love to see a movie.

As a fan, I would see any Marvel movie, but as a shareholder, I'm not sure if I would want them to take the risk on this character. I definately don't want big bucks spent on a movie about an overpowered hero fighting a mafia boss. It's too cliche.

I think Marvel should stick to either the bigtime characters like Iron Man and Hulk, or weird characters that would make a completely different kind of movie (such as a Sci-Fi or Western or something like that). To me Blade is different enough from all the major characters to justify a film. Darkhawk I'm not sure about.

Darkhawk could fit into the sci-fi category, as his amulet/armor is alien technology. But I see the logic your critique. It's why as much as I'd want a DH film, I'd just be happy with a full-time return in the comics (which seems unlikely under Quesada).

Yes, I would see it. Darkhawk is my favorite comic book chararcter of all time. I'd probably be first in line to see it.

I'm saying that DH is like Blade in that they are both lesser known characters and could benefit from a new take.

I'd want the original look and I'd leave his story similar to the way it is.

I remember Darkhawk from back in the day. I think it could work with the right studio and director. You must go with the original look though :)
