DARKHAWK

Posted on the front page of the Hype:

Marvel Entertainment is Hiring Writers
Source:Variety March 27, 2009

{Marvel Entertainment is readying to assemble a group of writers who will pen scripts for various properties Marvel wants to develop, reports Variety.

Marvel will invite up to five writers each year to work on specific projects. Those could include staffers behind Marvel's comic books.

The trade adds that the company will provide the specific pitches it wants the writers to tackle. Those could involve certain plot points for movies already in development or characters it would like to see in its future film slate.

The gathering of screenwriters will help Marvel come up with creative ways to launch its lesser-known properties, such as Black Panther, Cable, Doctor Strange, Iron Fist, Nighthawk and Vision.

So far, it has focused its efforts on more popular superheroes like Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor and Captain America.

A group of Marvel executives will choose the writers, with the final decision made by Kevin Feige, Marvel Studio's president of production.

Terms call for Marvel to own whatever the writers work on during the year. Company has the option to continue a relationship with the writers after that period.}

All I can say is SWEEET! Darkhawk is one of my favorites:up: For those who don't know who he is:

Bio
Christopher Powell was born in Queens, New York. While witnessing his policeman father accept a bribe from a crime boss at an abandoned amusement park, teenager Chris Powell discovered a mysterious amulet. This amulet allowed him to switch places with a powerful android that his mind controlled. Chris vowed to use the amulet as "an edge against crime."[5] In this role, he worked with other superheroes and battled a number of costumed villains.

He's currently in the War of Kings storyline.

How many "Hawk" characters does Marvel have? Nighthawk, Darkhawk, StarHawk....

Visually he's impressive, but I barely know anything about the character. Maybe a movie revamp is in order...?

Darkhawk is on my list of characters that should be on TV instead of movies.

I remember collecting Darkhawk before he was a cool character.

me too. I got the whole set from his last regular series.

DarkHawk was/is a really cool character, IMO. I have yet to check out the new series since I'm buying so many other series like ASM, Mighty Avengers, New Avengers, Dark Avengers, Punisher Max, Punisher, Daredevil, and alot more.

They are now saying that Darkhawk inherited the device of like an elite group of interstellar soldiers sort of like the Nova or Green Lantern Corp.

I think it was implied that the Darkhawk amulet is associated with the Shi'Ar empire.

Darkhawk was one of the most generic characters Marvel produced almost two decades ago. A virtual Peter Parker teenager all alone type who has a suit of alien armor drop on him. (Retconned a bit: He teleports to some space station somewhere and lies in suspended animation while his consciousness aminates the armored android body.

This guy was pretty obscure when Bush 1 was President. Nothing's changed since then.

I think all Super hero properties should become TV shows instead of movies. you can explore more in twenty 50 minute episodes than you can in a movie. But movies get crazy budgets and TV doesn't.

I agree, but there are some characters that I think would do better as TV shows than they would movies.

I think that even with Daredevil's popularity, he would have done better as a TV series than the failed attempt at a movie.

amulets are lame. Lets face it, who finds amulets anymore?

dude, the plot of The Monster Squad centered around an amulet... so amulets are awesome!
