Darkwing Duck

Darkwing Duck is on Disney+?! I was trying to resist yet another streaming subscription but dang that is tempting....

In all seriousness, it's become a solid hit around my house. I kind of recommend it. It has it's problems, but it's still worth it. For me, it's worth it for Darkwing Duck and Gravity Falls and all things Star Wars.

Yeah I’ve only seen a few episodes so far but the humour is very good. Even funnier than shows from today even! Maybe they should reboot it but I’m not sure they could get the humour right

I have faith after the fantastic Ducktales reboot and his appearances on it.

If fans want some kind of Darkwing Duck revival or reboot they need to keep watching the show on Disney+.

I mean love the show and the comics. Would love some new material. But I think the best thing we can hope for at this point is possibly a spinoff featuring the version from the new DuckTales. A new movie seems unlikely.

But hey you never know. The Disney+ app could create a lot of new opportunities for things and possibly like a standalone streaming movie, just like the Nickelodeon cartoons that got movie updates on Netflix like Invader Zim, Hey Arnold, etc.

Yep, yep, yep!

I'm all over this, even moreso after that hour long episode this season of Ducktales that was essentially a stealth Darkwing episode.

According to the report, it's a series planned and not a movie. Also, it hasn't gotten picked up for series yet.

why shouldn’t it?
It’s still people’s favourite Disney animated series and was always referencing geek culture. Think about all the superhero-movies that were released the last 30 years...

I think shows like Gravity Falls, Star vs the Forces of Evil, Amphibia, and The Owl House will make their presence known in the conversation these days. As well as Wander Over Yonder, Phineas and Ferb, Kim Possible, The Proud Family, DuckTales (2017) and Tangled: The Series.

To go along with pre-1996 Disney Afternoon stuff such as Darkwing Duck. I mean Disney has been putting out some highly regarded cartoons the past decade and some scattered around in the 2000s, and I didn't even mention Big City Greens, Milo Murphy's Law, Big Hero 6: The Series, Star Wars: Rebels, or Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Oh Mickey Mouse (2013) too!

But I agree with Vile that a new series is likely the best option for Darkwing.

If this were to be remade, should it be a spinoff of the Darkwing Duck from Ducktales or a completely different continuity?

Spinoff I think but I'm not picky on this matter.

I’m kind of leaning on the different continuity. I like what DuckTales did. But I’d rather the original Drake Mallard story updated than this actor playing Darkwing kind of deal. I’d rather it be it’s own thing than tied to a different show.

The biggest issue I have is that the Fearsome Five (except for Negaduck) don't exist in the real world. So they'd have to bring them back again like they did earlier this season.
