Ok, Bowie fans unite!

Anyone else at the Hype a fan of David Bowie's music?

Have a favorite album and/or song?

My current favorite album is "Scary Monsters", but I also love "Aladdin Sane".

My fave song right now has to be "Ashes to Ashes" (Also from the Scary Monsters album)

So, let's hear it for the Thin White Duke, folks!

Show some love!

I appreciate David Bowie.
I included him for the "Who Are Your Personal Heroes" thread.
There is no way I could have one favorite album because they're all so different and he evolved/re-invented so much that he had way more essential phases than most popular musicians ever have.
Yes, even more phases than John Cougar Mellancamp or Bon Jovi.

He is like Led Zeppelin in that I Love almost all of his songs, and yet I can point to one clear favorite song...but then I remember the others and realize it's not really "THE" favorite.

But if you held a gun to my head, "TVC-15" is what I'd say.

I also think you Bowie fans who poo-pooed Tin Machine are cheating yourselves and should give it another listen, 'cause while they have some truly less than listenable cheez, they also have some of his best songs, much better than a lot of his solo stuff.

You remind me of a babe.

*What Babe?*

A babe with a power.

*What Power?*

The Power of Voo Doo.

*Who Do?*

You do!

*Do What?*

Remind me of the Babe.

DANCE THE MAGIC DANCE!!! :D

The best is Labyrinth

"You remind me of the babe"

Damn. Teddy beat me to it :(

I knew TEDDY would like that song.
And that out of the literally scores of genius Bowie songs, like "John, I'm Only Dancing"...and "Time Will Crawl"...and "Black Country Rock"...and "The Man Who Sold The World"...he would mention that Labyrinth Cheez.

Doug, how can you NOT like Labyrinth? It's such pure fun!!!

For this line alone, it should be enjoyed:

Jareth: "I ask for so little. Just fear me, love me, do as I say and I will be your slave."

David Bowie as the Goblin King was EXCELLENT casting!!!

Every artist should have one song/video that is pure, unadulterated fun. For Christina Aguilera it's Lady Marmalade. For David Bowie it's "Magic Dance".

Bowie's good "fun" songs are "The Laughing Gnome" and "Don't Sit Down".
The Labyrinth stuff is "fun" like Ewoks were "fun", as in, embarrassing. :csad:

Nobody hated Ewoks until they noticed the similarities to Jar-Jar.

Love his 60s stuff, hate his 70s stuff, his 80s stuff was even worse... then he got good again in the 90s.

However, Labyrinth is awesome.

Nobody hated Ewoks until they noticed the similarities to Jar-Jar.
Uh...that's one of the more Wrong posts I've read in a while, since I saw Return of the Jedi on opening day in 1983, way before JarJar was even a glistening on the tip of George's member, and loathed them instantly.

Well, that's you. I've known people who I've had long conversations about Star Wars with, and they never brought up the Ewoks in a negative light... until after they saw Phantom Menace. Then it was nothing but complaints about how Ewoks were the first step to Jar-Jar, ect. ect.

I knew TEDDY would like that song.

Did you just equate the Labyrinth to "cheez"?

You, sir, are dead to me.
