Truly great film. Probably (and Edge of Tomorrow already did that I thought) the best film I've seen since Inception. Just something that sticks with you. I can't stop thinking about it. Andy...deserves recognition. I know we've said this for years, but it was great to see him as a lead, and get at least credit for that.

Very little of this film I was displeased with, any nitpicks are just minimal. The film flowed great, and I know it's been said before but it was one of those films where I did not want action, not because of the action being bad, but simply I did not want to see war, and I understood Caesar's point of view with it. The music (already bought the soundtrack) was incredible. It was emotional, and haunting in some ways. Koba is an amazing villain. This is how CGI characters are done. I was worried about them using too much "talking" in the film for our ape characters. But it was perfect.

I could go on and on, but it was a deep, powerful film, and I could not take my eyes away. The ending left me wanting more. I can't wait for the third already.

9.6/10

I loved:

That we finally got to hear (even though just one word) Maurice speak. His "Run." was just awesome.

You know I did wonder what happened to that "submarine" scene from the trailer. I saw nothing of the sort. So there must be some subplots maybe that got cut.

Wasn't "No" the forbidden word? I heard Jason Clarke's character say it when they discovered the hidden gun, yet i didn't see the appropriate response to it from the apes….

Where did it say that it was the forbidden word?

It's one of the laws; just like Apes don't kill apes from the original films…..

"An ape may say "No" to a human, but a human may never again say "No" to an ape" - quote from the film.

Question

How did Malcolm and his family find Ceasar's old house? Was it just a coincidence?

During that scene Malcoms GF said "Where is he taking us?" and tou can see Caesar roughly trying to speak through the pain guiding them through the streets to his house.

Ya, I saw the Ape may not kill another ape. But this is a reboot. Even how they rose up is completely different. I don't remember seeing the "No" thing (unless I'm mistaken) on the wall that Maurice was writing on.

Didn't see it. But I'm seeing it again tomorrow :hubba

I wonder how long this series will be.

I doubt they'll stop if the third movie grosses over 600+ m WW.

Btw hours have passed since I saw the film. And yet I am still floored by just how amazing it was, I can't get over it. It very much so sticks with you.

Malcom's kid asked "Where is he taking us" he was giving them directions.

I must've missed that part.

Thanks, fellas.

Rocket was the original alpha ape at the sanctuary during Rises, right?

I could've sworn he was going to be the one to challenge Ceasar in the sequel.

Nah it makes way more sense for Koba. He had a rough go with humans much more than Rocket.

Was always going to be Koba, Rocket was nowhere near as mistreated as Koba.

Guys how ****ing sad was
Koba killing Ash, throwing him off that balcony. A pretty horrific death. I was pretty upset

I was very :csad:

For me this summer has been pretty great.

Captain America 2 ( though not really a summer movie)

22 Jump Street

Dawn Of The Planet of the Apes

Godzilla (I didn't hate it just thought it was just okay)

Amazing Spider Man 2 ( I am in the minority that liked the movie despite its flaws)

X Men Days of Future Past

Neighbors

I enjoyed all these movies but Dawn is great movie.

I really felt for Blue Eyes in this film, young kid getting mixed up in a war thinking he was doing the right thing, only to see the reality of war and the true intentions of Koba.

Not just that but in Rises, Rocket was pretty quick to submit to Ceaser when he had some muscle behind him.

Deep down, id say that Rocket is pretty soft.

A friend and I were talking about Rocket after the movie, and we think he's more of that big, slow oafish guy who acts tough to make up for not being the brightest tool in the shed, but is really pretty much a softie. If he really had any mean side or tendncy to really be dominant over others, he would have joined Koba.

Maurice was our favorite, but we were always so happy to see Rocket on screen.
