Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - Part 2

The war in the next film may take a toll on Caesar,Perhaps humans kill his sons and so that hardens him

just got back from it. really enjoyed it!!

Saw this again today with a much more cooperative audience.

I ****ing love this movie. Seriously. Not a single complaint. I won't hesitate to put this on my list of best sci-if films. Bring on part three .

This movie was awesome -- one of my favorites of the year so far and currently the summer movie to beat.

Me neither. I'm kinda surprised to hear some reviewers say the ending doesn't leave any indication of what the next film will be, when Ceasar pretty much spells out that its gonna be a war film. I assume the next one is gonna be called War for the Planet of the Apes or something along those lines.

I think the issue is that this film was pretty much marketed as the apes vs human war film. From all the posters with apes riding horses with guns and to all the trailers.

To me I wish there was a better hinting at how the humans would come to be subjugated by the apes (assuming they are going down that path)? From everything we've seen from Ceasar it doesn't seem like he would be the one to start that. Unless they bring back Koba but that would just be a retread.

Besides the 2 little girls running down the aisles singing/crying(Why would you bring your kids?).I enjoyed it.

$73 Million. Looks like it did what was predicted. I'm sure word of mouth will ensure that it doesn't have a huge drop next weekend.

holy **** was that an amazing film! I called it when us fans were predicting what would happen in the next Ape film that [BLACKOUT]Koba's uprising would be his downfall[/BLACKOUT] if Serkis doesn't get a Oscar nomination for this film I am going to be disappointed. So ready for 2016 for the next film.

You guys are way too excited about the idea of Koba staging a revolt against Caesar and leading his team against the good apes. I'm surprised that you're champing at the bit to see that storyline.

Your theater must have sucked. I had absolutely no problem hearing anything being said.

The Only thing I couldn't hear is what [blackout]Caesar said to the Keri Russell when they were loading Caesar in the Truck[/blackout]

Saw it, and thought it was really great. I'm gonna say this wins the Oscar for Best Visual Effects. The best character CG I think I've ever seen in a film.

Not to mention there's not much competition opening next weekend. It's going up against "The Purge 2" and "Sex Tape", both rated R. I foresee this topping the box office again next weekend.

Never underestimate R rated fare.

The Purge will be competition, because it's a sequel to a very lame and not scary movie that knows how to grab the right (money spending) audiences.

I can see what you're saying, though in the interest of disclosure, I didn't pay attention to the marketing so I didn't go in with the expectation that it was gonna be a war film. I pretty much assumed that the war with the humans probably wasn't gonna happen in this one, and that we'd see the origins of what would eventually lead to the world we see in the original.

I still think that world is decades off timeline wise, like I would say 100 years at least, given the advancement of the ape society, the class slash cast system, and the way Apes speak of their founder/forefathers. I could see this society becoming that society after Ceasar's gone. And really, Koba was more of a thug with power to be used for his own ends where as the original POTA was a society that was made for the advancement and superiority of all apes.

I might have missed it......but what happened to

the black guy and other guy who were with the main human family? When Koba set the ape village on fire, the humans ran away. The family hid in a ditch, but I didn't see what happened to the other 2 who were with them. Were they killed?

Most likely they ran off screen where the family hid in the ditch with 100+ apes following them

oh. so it never really said/showed what happened to them? I stepped out a few times, so I was wondering if I missed anything.

ah. thanks.

yeah. I saw the jerk guy in the car get killed. the other 2 guys with the family just disappeared from the story after they fled. just seemed kind of odd. but not that big of a deal.

Yeah I was wondering what had happened to them too. Hope they made it out alive.
