How many Batman clones are there that you've seen on here so far?

Gotham is full of them

I went and looked and all I could find was the Devs saying you couldnt be a GL at launch...it was more of a "yet" thing

it depends. what just abill and roach ment ment by his batman character is sub jecttive though to people it's just an imspired by thing that doesmean you can dress him in black and make him a tech hero. but in some cases that's where it ends. cause mine had nano energy blast gloves, as a main weapon. the only way you make your character feel like batman is in the iconic power sets and what you get as gadget in the traps area and set it on your hot bar. and even so that's not really the case. I've played as batman in simulation mode last night and I have to tell you he plays differently then my main hero character shadow stryerB one being he had batarangs as projecttile weapons where as the character you create for this game can't have access to that as a(one of them anyway) main weapon other the picking it in your Iconic powers load out on your hot bar. two though your character is impired by bat man that's doesn't mean you can Rip off the very look that he goes with costume wise. and I mean the famus bat man cowel.

but i did run into a remy lebeu rip off on friday night at the metropolis police station in little bohima that seem's easyer to do for people then making a rip off of batman.

Thanks to all of you who kept telling when extra Beta keys were being given out, I finally got in 2 days ago :). Loving it so far, my impression -

My hero is Scarlet Tiger on the first server. He's a cross inbetween Ironman and Batman somewhat, and I gave him beam energy powers and flight. So far I'm really liking the combat and UI overall. There are a few hiccups, but for the most part I have no complaints about those two areas. In fact in general I'm liking the gameplay a lot. The flying is amazing, possibly the best I've seen in a superhero game yet (and I'm talking just basic flight, I only recently got the speed boost). The combat is what a good superhero game should feel like, combo's, various super moves, smooth and easy to use. My main complaints so far are mainly down to what I'm hoping is a Beta problem, in that flying around in Metropolis leads to lots of game freezes. I'm trying to do the demon/Raven quest, and there are ppl below and lots of flying around needed...I've frozen twice during this quest alone and had to reset my PS3. Both times I had to wait in a line to get back in.

My villain is on the PVP server, and it's been nothing but smooth sailing. He's a fire based, super speed, brawler guy who looks like Despairo (except minus the purple fin with a Mohawk instead) with volcanic skin and a battle harness on his chest. Superspeed works great, in fact it's awesome. I'm dropping fireballs on ppl's heads, and clearing tons of guys out at easily. Also being in Gotham I get treated to some Hamil voiced Joker which is always good. And unlike my hero, no freeze ups.

As for the other stuff, I think much like with most MMO's since I discovered the PVP servers, I'm enjoying that much more. It's always a pain at first, but it's always more tense, and much more to do at the level cap. So I think with the full release I'll be putting my hero and villain on pvp servers, unless I decide to make someone on the server you guys are on. Speaking of PVP, I'm also liking how the entire setup for it is, from the legend stuff on.

I'm also not enitrely sure where I set with the custom character creation. I'm hoping more options will be available in release. I mean I can more or less get close to what I want, but not entirely. In City of Heroes I was able to pick a Batman like helm for my Crimson Tiger (Crimson was taken this time around so went with Scarlet Tiger), but in this I have to settle for an upside down cresent moon on the front of my head. The capes move and look great, the boots and gloves are spot on, just the overall head and face gives me trouble. Also not liking the lack of a height editor.

I really am liking the game so far tho, outside of a few things that will hopefully get fixed in full release.

Edit - Forgot, wanted to add in that I also really like the Iconic power stuff. My hero has Shazam which helps with the whole tech hero, electrical discharge looking thing. My villain has Superman eye beams which look awesome (and are close enough to fire looking to fit).

Ah, a lot more playable, now that there are a lot less people online.

Thanks, SouLeSS...but by the time I followed the link, they ran out of beta keys.

If anyone knows of more beta keys being handed out, please do let me know. I'd really like to get in on it. Been too slow on the draw, lately, it seems. Still kicking myself for being late to the link SouLeSS posted...

I cant wait till they unlock the costume pieces for your entire account, not just the character you pick them up on.

Except for the legendary stuff, that is.

Played a good amount today had no freezes...created some new characters...my sorceror/staff combatant is among my faves

I'm enjoying this so far. Kinda disappointed with the customization, especially since I've played City of Heroes and Champions Online, but it's cool. I just reached level 9. It has frozen twice. Once in the game and once at a loading screen. I've also gotten stuck while trying to chat. Has this happened to anyone? I press select to access the chat and my character freezes. I can only activate my travel power, but nothing else works. Can't move, can't chat...Nothing. Happened twice just now and I had to quit.

yeah being a COH'er from the start I am a little disappointed in the customization...hopefully this isnt all of the customization

Went ahead and re trained my hero for $500. Dumped what I've since found to be disappointing and awful in Shazam (you take way more damage charging up for the attack than you heal and dish out...plus you're stationary the whole time), and picked up the Lantern defense bubble which is awesome (and red colored for me). I also dumped my turrent to focus on the other power tree and am messing bad guys up. The mini nuke like bomb hits like a truck, and doesn't use up my power. It also fits better with the Ironman meets Batman motif to use stealth and built in weaponry over buildings turrents out of thin air.

As for the game itself, only one freeze up today. I've since went to Gotham, and no lag or freezes whatsoever. Personally I think it's either, A) Metropolis is more unstable in Beta, or B) it's brighter, much easier to see in the distance, and when you fly with all that loading, and then rush into a heavily populated and power effects filled area it's just too much. Where Gotham is darker, more inviting to stay closer to the ground, and seemingly more dense with buildings so you're not always loading so many things. Hopefully this is fixed for release tho. Even tho I like Batman on the com more than Superman, and like Gotham's asthetics better, I like Metropolis better overall. Metropolis has better heavy hitter NPC's (Flash>Batwoman, Grodd and Teen Titans > Bane and his venom thugs) IMO from what I've seen so far.

Also, not to ramble on more, but wanted to say I think DCUO seems better set up than most to stay fun after the level cap. There are plenty of PVP arenas, co-op instances like Area 51 (which always bugs on me at the last fight and restarts the whole quest...), daily item grabs like the vault, or escaped villains like Bizzaro (which took a lot of ppl to bring down lol).

BTW, is there a way to change the stance you get from personality? Primal's hunched overall hunched over look on my villain is starting to annoy me, lol.

It froze on me every time I tried to play my flying hero. I decided to try a new character on the PVP server only to reach my first object in Gotham and be destroyed twice by villains six levels higher than me. So it's back to the PVE server for me because that is ridiculous. I going to recreate the guy I just made because it was a fun build. Mental Powers with acrobats and martial arts.

Had a few run-ins with some villains on the PvP server and surprisingly won most of them. I was level 13 and had a level 18 and another villain gang up on me. Retreat was my only option and as silly as it looked, dodge rolled all my way to safety. Of course they were following me and I happened to roll into an area with some pretty mean cop NPCs.

Long story short, with some friendly NPC help, I managed to take them both out. That was most satisfying.

Another fight against a lvl 8 sorcerer I almost lost. He was whipping me good, thankfully I had a filled up fireball barrage in my tap. I like how levels don't mean too much, and lower lvl players still have a chance against higher lvl players.

I'm definetly gonna go pvp server when this launches. if anything it's just fun to fight real people. Being on pve I hit the level cap and had nothing to do. With pvp I can atleast have some fun. I don't mind getting killed so pvp is real fun.

Nope. Your gear gets just damaged I think. That's about it.

Hmm. Then why would people be *****es at a higher level and attack people at lower levels? Just because. Usually it's because they get something out of it.

In my experience, it's always because they are *****es. People are ***** just for the hell of it. For example, I couldn't turn in one of my Missions today, because 3 villains kept camping around the mission giver.

Then you need to pull a Stan, Kenny, Kyle and Cartman. Just grab ur buddies and do some easy quests to level up then return to kick ass.

The main reason is probably that they hit the level cap(20) and now are just having fun. I've been attacked too but I just stun them and go about my business. If they comeback I fight them or leave. Depends what I'm doing. I just wish I could get some exp for killing them. Like I said before it doesn't bother me getting ganked. After playing on pve for so long the pvp is a welcomed change.

Only annoying thing is the chat on pvp. Lot of whining about getting ganked. They have a pve server if you want to level unganked. If you picked pvp server then expect getting ganked in the leveling process. To many prideful people I guess. They always boast or justify their kills/death

To me PVP servers just add a little something that you don't always realize you're missing in a PVE server. Leveled capped? Bored? Tired of the instances and grind? Go to Gotham or Metropolis, start destroying stuff, and watch as the city stirs up like a hornets nest.

When WoW got boring the first time (before the first expansion) I switched to a PVP server for the first time (didn't hurt that my guild had some major, takes the fun outta the game drama). I made a Rogue, and looooved it. Once you get past the whole, guy 40 levels above you camping your corpse, stuff, it just makes it a whole new game. I loved to sneak solo into Horde cities and mess with everyone, or kill ppl near my lvl who were still flagged and watch the city erupt looking for me. Or just get a huge group going and storm the enemies towns.

With PVE, you just don't have that option. You can show up flagged, and stand around til they form a group and get the first hit on you, but that's about it. Plus I even got to like that tense feeling you get constantly watching over your shoulder, never knowing when someones gonna ambush you. It makes for a more realistic feeling experience (well...as realistic as super powered aliens in tights, and Jamaican accent Trolls with tusks can be).

Tho I do understand PVP servers aren't for everyone, just my opinion on it.

Ran into my first major gripe....took my level 12 tech/MA on the Joker mission to save Robin...its one of those defeat X amount of thugs outside then go inside for the boss battles...once I get inside the mission level shifts to level 14. Not a happy vigilante
