Death Sentence

There mostly hand to hand scenes up until the last 30 mins or the movie. But when i say hand to hand i dont mean kung fu stuff i mean like really hardcore fighting like im trying survive stuff. Its some of the most realistic stuff ive seen in a while.

I loved the ending. Side by side on the same pew.

"Ready?"

So awesome. Oh man, and that long tracking shot in the above ground parking structure... brilliant choreography. Such an intense movie, that on-foot chase is probably the only that got my heart pumping, because I genuinely felt scared. The fights were brutal and realistic, ditto with the shooting. Aside from the typical law enforcement being a bunch of idiots, I loved everything about this. Watching Kevin Bacon lose his grip on sanity eventually going completely cold was cool.

First movie where I think I felt how I was supposed to feel when I was supposed to feel from start to finish, very effective. Wicked trip.

i havent seen this yet but will just to see kevin bacon go crazy

the shot of Kevin Bacon with the shaved head and no shirt on reminds me of taxi driver.

I think that's what they were going for.

the shoot out scene is almost identical to Taxi Driver. Especially the haircut along with Bacon's character getting shot in the neck.

My favorite scene is when the guy is telling him that he turned him into a killer as well. He takes out his gun, places it on his lap, and just gives him this cold look and asks him "You ready?". The reaction from his sons killer was priceless because he knew it was over and had accepted his fate.

The film itself is very realistic because I feel we all would do that if it was our loved one. The worst person to fight is the one who truly has nothing to lose. Kevin portrayed Nick as a loving father/husband who had lost everything and everyone. He had nothing left to lose and to some extent he was already dead, so he turned into a killer only he became worse than them. I loved the film and will definitely buy it when it comes out on DVD.

I want to see this movie. It looks pretty epic. I'm just drawn to revenge movies.

If someone who worships Monica Bellucci tells me this movie is great, then it is great
I can't wait to watch this! :D

Edit: Stormy....how are the action scenes? Just shooting? Hand to hand fights?

Mostly shoot outs with some hand to hand...the on foot chase sequence leading into the parking garage is one of the most intense, suspenseful things I've seen in theatres in I don't know how long.

I just watched Death Wish earlier, great movie and you can definitely see the influence DS got from it, but it's hardly the bold-faced rip off that the detractors have made it out to be.

I respect the hell out of Wan as a filmmaker. Love the guys work or ahte it, he's made 3 films that are entirely different from one another.

I'm watching the DVD right now and this film is just amazing. Very gritty, violent, and realistic as it paints a picture on what a man or anyone would do when they have nothing to lose.

Favorite sequences of the film is when he's talking to his son in the hospital after
his wife and his son are shot.
, another favorite scene is the foot chase through the garage, and of course that long cold death stare he has when walking in the rain back to his house.

The unrated DVD has a slightly different ending from the theatrical cut.

The unrated DVD ending has him sitting on the couch bleeding from his wounds, and in slow motion his hand slowly falls down and he either dies or passes out from blood loss. Either way his fate is still to the point that the audience decides for his or herself.

I really liked this movie, although the reviews were really bad. I went to see this in theaters, but there were only three people watching Death Sentence (including myself). Like others have said, the chase sequence really got my heart pumping. I'll definately get this on DVD.

wait, how did the theatrical end?

The theatrical cut ends with him coming home and watching the home video of his family as he slowly bleeds to death. The uncut version is the same thing but it shows his hand dropping in slow motion and him closing his eyes. They leave Nick's fate up to the viewer as he could've died or passed out from the blood loss.

I saw a TV Spot for this with my friend and we were laughing. Don't you find it a bit weird that some random guy would just come up with two wads of cash, place it on the counter and say "I need guns"? I mean, who doesn't need guns, me and my friend were laughing about that all day and night, it was just so funny.

If you've seen the movie you would know how he got the money and how he found the place.

I just finished watching this movie and I absolutely loved it! Great performances all around, excellent story and a truly moving film. I love revenge movies, and I felt this delivered.

My mom loved it and after she was done watching it she said "greatest movie ever"

lol, i thought it was good. Id give it a 7.5/10

Yeah, very good movie! Definetely seeing this again at theaters when it arrives here on April.

Yeah, I had a feeling that they'd explain that part it's just with that hardcore music playing in the background and the intense sequences of cars flying off buildings, Bacon beating the crap out of people, etc. it's kinda hard to think about something like that I guess:grin:

Watched this yesterday, and I must say it was a pretty damn good revenge flick. Good performances from Bacon and Hedlund(who im not a big fan of). Action was great, and had some great kills. As stated there is an awesome tracking shot in the car garage....would love to see how they pulled that one off. I would certainly suggest this film.

I don't want to be the guy to ruin everyone's fun, so I'll just get my opinion in there and leave this thread alone. I just recently saw this... and I felt it was unintentionally funny. A lot. When Bacon's character finally goes all craaazy near the end, shaves his head and there's thunder and all of that ****, I was in stitches. :o

Sorry. I'll be leaving now.

The only thing I found funny was his haircut at the end.....what the hell was that about. He shaved it but missed so much of it in the back:huh:

Kent, I want you to know I love you and I hope this confession doesn't affect our relationship :(

But seriously, I have to agree with Kent this film I feel is really over-rated. Its been a year or so since I've seen it but from what I remember it was really hammy. Don't get me wrong I liked parts of it and I didn't think it was a complete waste but the final acts is so ridiculous that the film is like a goddamn cartoon.
