DeMatteis' Moonshadow; If you haven't read it yet here's your chance

Well I finally bought this. I got 20 bucks off it at the comic shop so that was pretty sweet. I'm only on the third chapter or book but holy crap this is amazing. So far i'd put this right up there with a book like Maus and it kicks Watchmens ass.
I loved
that the mourners that were on strike demanded unlimited necrophlia. That made me laugh out loud. And Moonshadow keeping his dead mother until she was rotting away was both beautifull and haunting.
There's rythem to Demattis words that's beyond poetry, the artists work is both unique and familar. This is why I love comics it's the most innovative art form we have. Comics aren't paintings, they aren't prose, poetry or photographey. They're all those things combined and you can't obtain that sort of fusion in any other art form. It's what makes comics special. It's just to bad it's hardly ever used to it's full potential because the super hero genre overshadows everything else.
I'll keep you guys updated on what I think. Even if you don't care.

ESPECIALLY if you don't care. ;)

This is a prime example as to why you should ALWAYS listen to me.

:)

yes master. ;)

I'm a little over half way finished. This is what Harry Potter should have been. ;)

you'll also be happy to hear that I finally found Dangerous Habits. I have it on hold and should pick it up tomorow. I won't start it till I'm done Moonshadow but I'm looking forward to it. :)

Great!

You will NOT be disappointed with Dangerous Habits.... specifically the last page to Chapter 5.

just ordered this off of Amazon... and I got A Thousand Ships arriving Friday, I'm finally gonna read it and maybe I'll be accepted in CTOAN's good graces once again :(

Ignore this post. I'm just bumping a bunch of non-DTL threads to get some of the old DTL threads off the first page and spare everyone some confusion.

Finished reading Moonshadow yesterday.

WOW!

EVERYONE NEEDS to read this book!

That's the kind of story that stays with you long after you've read it...
there is simply no other comic you can compare it too, it is in class all it's own.

After I get done with my stack of TPBs I have sitting here, I'm going to read it again.

I'm glad you liked it. :)

Did your TPB include the 1997 "Farewell Moonshahow" One-Shot put out by DC as well?

It was on your recommendation alone that I got it... you know I can't trust that Bendis-****e yoda ;)

Yeah, the TPB had the Farewell Moonshadow story at the end... good thing too because that was one of the best chapters in the book.

this series is a classic, I was glad when Vertigo reissued it about 10 years ago. I have all of those single issues, but really want the collected version. Are there any extras?

Oh good, this thread was bumped up again. :)

It deserves it. Right now I'm stuck trying to get this book back from an ex. Normally I'd just give up on it but this book is so good and special I have to have it back. That's why it hurts me to see ****ers like Fibber owning the book and not even reading it. :(
