There is definately depth there, its basically a commentary on faith, from true believers to people who try and manipulate faith into something they can use to control people.

Pretty much. And that is powerful to think about. Putting it in a post apocolyptic landscape made the theme even more meaningful.

^Definately, as it is harder to keep faith in a world like that and its rare to come accross also, it was about humanity's need for faith no matter what the circumstances.

Man, talking about this makes me wish critics saw into this more. The movie ain't Oscar worthy or anything, but I think it was all pretty well executed, particularly in its themes.
