Very small week, which is nice for my wallet for a change. I liked Terror from Kirkman's MTU so I'll give the MAX mini a shot. The other two are solid Marvel books. As for Booster's new title, while I liked him in 52, I am hesitant because some DC launches presume you know a lot about the character when you may not. Plus, part of me wishes he just remained Supernova, who had a cooler costume and name. But considering how small this week is, the odds of me picking this up are about 60/40 in favor.

Also of note, the perenially late AXM was supposed to ship this week originally, but has been pushed back to the 22nd. Honestly, does anyone care anymore (although the fact that it comes out so infrequently conversely makes it easy to keep on my pull list, since, well, it's a very infrequent expense).

AXM is one of those books that I always immensely enjoy when it comes out, but also one I've learned not to eagerly await.

AXM is one of those books that I always immensely enjoy when it comes out, but also one I've learned not to eagerly await.

That's become my reaction, too. AXM even if it was one time would read horribly slow and decompressed; the story was outlined during the "all stories are 6 issues or bust" mantra of 2004 and man, does it show some age now. Under the bimonthly or later format, it moves at a glacial pace. In addition, it merely is another "X-Men fight aliens" at this point and really stands as a place for good Cassaday art and some of Whedon's snarky dialogue. While his RUNAWAYS isn't perfect, it's paced a lot faster than this.

Whenever I see AXM on the shelves, I think, "Oh, you're here?" At the very least, it's attained a low standard for timely issues, much as Millar/Hitch on Ultimates 1 & 2. Of course, every time it does show up, it outsells every other X-book, which means fans love it or stores overorder it (I could walk into a few shops and easily find a half dozen copies of the last two issues right now, even varient covers).

At least it's readable, although often overrated.
