Diamond List for September 19, 2007

It's not bad persay...it's just kinda ''WTF?"

It's like Marvel is trying to make their own answer to Green Lantern Corps with this team.

I've never been a fan of Frank Tieri, so my expectations would have been pretty low.

I don't find it bad, just completely unnecessary and a bit slow. But it does have some cool ideas in it like all the members are innocent civilians who have been affected by the Hulk.

Like one lady was horribly burned and lost her child because she was trapped in a car during one of the Hulk's fights with Abomination. Jim Wilson's father blames the Hulk for his son's death. And one kid who was in the womb while his mother went into a stroke because the Hulk frightened her hindering his development.

Oh, so this is basically a book that exists on the principle that the Hulk's a mindless killer? Pass. :down

Nothing in hippie_hunter's post suggests it's about Hulk being a mindless killer.

If anything, it's simply saying that all of these big, loud superhero battles actually have consequences. When someone gets thrown into a building, civilizations may - and do - die. That could happen to any hero...not just Hulk.

Granted, I don't read the book either, so that could all be bull****.

No it's not based on the principle that the Hulk is a mindless killer.

Grey is Glenn Talbot's brother, one of the Hulk's enemies.

Mister Gideon blames the Hulk for his son's death even though it isn't Hulk's fault at all. Jim Wilson died of AIDS.

Mess was caught in the sidelines of two beings of almost unlimited strength. It wasn't the Hulk's fault. As CConn said:

Prodigy's mother got a stroke because she was frightened of the Hulk, not because of his actions.

Griffen is one of Hulk's enemies back when he was Clown.

It's based on people who blame the Hulk for their troubles even though their troubles are not the Hulk's fault.

Gutsville #2 has been delayed for quite some time. That's a bad sign for the second damn issue of a book. I'll miss Eric, but hopefully Slott will start using him soon in A:TI. Looking foward to MCP #1 a lot.

::disappointed::

Why? It's Gabriel Ba, so you know it'll look pretty. The premise sounds cool. I don't care what kind of ****ty music MCR makes, I'll give this book a shot.

Yet you won't read The Spirit or anything with DC?:csad:

I still love you

It's a stand alone universe. I won't need to have read 50 other titles to make sense of it. And I kick myself everytime a new Spirit book comes out that I passed on it. I'll get to it eventually.

You're kicking yourself because The Spirit is nearly in a stand-alone universe where you don't have to read 50 other titles to make sense of it, right?

So why arent they pissed at the Abomination then? Why just The Hulk?

So why arent they pissed at the Abomination then? Why just The Hulk?

Because post CIVIL WAR, if there are any civilian injuries or deaths as the result of a battle between superheroes and supervillains, the blame is always heaped on the heroes. The villains are presumed to be evil by design and the masses at large shrug their collective shoulders. Recall it wasn't long ago that Maria Hill was blaming all the people Norman Osborn killed on Spider-Man because Spidey didn't murder him, rather on, say, an inefficient prison system that doesn't prevent him from escaping or a legal system with so many loopholes. I mean, someone could have been appalled that four villains on the FBI's Most Wanted List were hiding out so close to a school when the New Warriors went to arrest them for the cameras, but, nope.

If you are a hero, no one in the government or society seems to want to help you these days. If you are a villain, you either are presumed to be beyond reason and given a moral pass, or if you make a lip service promise to behave, you get a badge.

Stuff like this happens in real life too, sometimes.

I flipped through GAMMA CORPS and it didn't strike my interest. Seemed rather pointless and I already have enough titles.

Yeah, that's a pretty realistic burden for the superheroes to shoulder. Cops are held to a higher standard too, and a lot of the things criminals manage to get away with are blamed on the cops' not doing enough to stop them.
