Diamond List for August 2nd

Not as much as if you read the words, since the bulk of the information is still primarily transmitted through dialogue. I'll be getting the mindless action scenes from the art; you'll be getting that, plus the plot and character development from the writing.

Gives yourself a chance to buy up some back issues or trades that you've been wanting to get. Maybe even try out something new, you never know what you may bump into.

Small week, but it is MTU week!!
Marvel Team-up #23 $2.99
Moon Knight #4 $2.99

Uncanny slowly going up the depth chart...
Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man #11 $2.99
Ultimate Spider-man #98 $2.99
Uncanny X-men #477 $2.99
New Excalibur #10 $2.99

I strongly disagree with Dread about Marvel advertising, but have to agree on this one :o , because I never heard of it. Being a slow week, I'll give it a try, just to prove Dread wrong :)
Agents Of Atlas #1 (of 6) $2.99

DARK HORSE COMICS
BPRD UNIVERSAL MACHINE #5 (OF 5) $2.99

MARVEL COMICS
FANTASTIC FOUR #539 CW $2.99

Not much.

Is new Excalibur any good? I haven't bothered with it yet, as I've heard mixed reviews

I would say my review is mixed as well. Claremont has for a long time been hit or miss for me, going back to right after his legendary run with Byrne.

I like the team he's put together, and the first story with the "Dark X-men" was good.

The problem with CC is that he tries to shove way too many things (and new characters) at once at the reader.(You know what I'm talking about if you've read X-Men: The End vols 1-78; the "The End" that never seems to, uh, END) I'd rather him slow down a bit and concentrate on a character or two. The last issue about Chamber was pretty cool, but 1) it's mostly about Chamber, not Excalibur, and 2) it's not written by CC, he's been recovering from a bout in the hospital for exhaustion.

So take it for what it is. As you can see, it's at the bottom of my list, but it's still on there. If you're a Capt. Britain completist, it might be worth getting just for that.
