FINAL CRISIS #1 (OF 7) $3.99 - I'm undecided about this.
GREEN LANTERN #31 $2.99 - Hopefully when Sinestro arrives we'll start to get some real action in this arc.
HUNTRESS YEAR ONE #2 (OF 6) $2.99 - The first issue was really good.
NORTHLANDERS #6 (MR) $2.99 - This has been an enjoyable piece of historical fiction.

MARVEL COMICS

GIANT SIZE ASTONISHING X-MEN #1 $4.99 - Twas Astonishing X-Men that got me reading comics in 2004; and now I couldn't be happier to see the back of it; the delays killed my interest in it about a year ago, but I stuck it out (given how infrequently it comes out, it isn't a huge investment anyway). Hopefully Cassaday gets to Planetary so I can finally get the last trade of that. And speaking of that series, I'll probably give Ellis' AXM run a shot.

I haven't read Transmet or Planetary yet (both are at the top of my to-read list), but I don't see the "treat characters as worse than pond scum" writing style in Thunderbolts or Nextwave. If there's any writer who fits that description, it's Millar.

I haven't read Transmet or Planetary yet (both are at the top of my to-read list), but I don't see the "treat characters as worse than pond scum" writing style in Thunderbolts or Nextwave. If there's any writer who fits that description, it's Millar.

Ellis has voiced some rather disparaging opinions on the Big Two company properties in the past (more concerning the business model), but I don't see it really leeching into his work for the companies (not like with Ennis, where his contempt for superheroes dominates every story he writes with them (apart from Superman); his work has a satirical edge, sure, but he writes them in-character quite well.
