So here's yet another college thread. The question is pretty straight forward. Say if you have (or in the process of doing) or haven't and if you are reaping the benefits of said decision. Discuss...or not and let the thread die after about a page like most of my threads tend to do.

:o

I liked biology well enough. I wasn't all that good at it, or super-passionate about it. I didn't know the name for what I was really passionate about, but I do now, so I'm making a career change. :funny:

The degree got me a fairly well-paying job with an awesome boss and awesome coworkers for 7 years though, so it wasn't a total waste. Besides, I'll always be interested in science, so there's that. :yay:

I majored in Biology and came to really enjoy it once I got past my pre-requisite courses. Organic Chem I/II, Histology, Genetics, Immunology, Virology...loved it all. Still love it. I'm interested in some stuff I'd read about bacteriophages as a response to anti-biotic resistant bacteria. Right now I'm reappyling for med and PA school...I think a lack of direct patient contact (Aside from shadowing) is what kept me out of PA school this past rotation. So I'm taking more biology courses and getting that contact time.

Majored in English, which I enjoy, but have no desire to go to grad school.

So yeah. Pretty much shot myself in the foot with that one.

I majored in Criminology. I love it and I'm good at it. The only thing I was good at :funny:

No, I was practical and got a business related degree.

Of course, I didn't find my passion for anthropology until long after my main opportunity to go to college was over.

I'm majoring in digital arts and animation with a focus on 3D modeling, which I have been enjoying very much. Here and then, I do wonder what it would be like if I went to a different school and majored in something else, but I don't think I'd be having as much fun if I didn't major in something art-related.

I majored in history, which I am very passionate about.

It got me a job in a supermarket deli....which is now out of business.

So I got a master's degree! :awesome:

Civil Engineering?
I like it, not passionate about it, but I have nothing to regret entering this major

Yes. Illustration. I am an illustrator.

I only went to college because I was passionate about learning about my major. I think if you go to college, you darn well better be passionate about it, because with the economy the way it is, you're unlikely to be landing a dream job in your field for a while, and it's going to take a while to pay off student loans with the crap wages most companies are paying these days.

I wish I had followed my passion and studied art history instead of my current credentials. I likely would have ended up in the same place, but smarter.
