Anyone who's ever heard of Dino Riders probably remembers it, because it was a very simple yet totally awesome concept: dinosaurs + futuristic weapons = win. It may have been a fairly short-lived series that only aired 14 episodes, but the toyline managed to stick around for a few years, and that's probably what most people (myself included) remember. I can barely remember the actual show (I was a toddler at the time), but I certainly remember playing with the toys that my friends and their older siblings had.

So I got to thinking-- when is someone going to revive this long dormant franchise? If they would just take the simple concept of the original series-- humans riding on armored dinosaurs with futuristic weapons-- and gave it a modern-day makeover with a story that feels fresh and relevant to todays' audience, I'm sure there are plenty of kids who would tune in. And of course, you can't forget that there would be a multi-million-dollar toy line attached to a Dino Riders revival, which would certainly be motivation for the big wigs to do it.

After 20 years, I think it's about friggin' time the Dino Riders got some respect! If they were to revive it correctly, it could easily be many times more popular than the original was!

I think it's worth mentioning that this fall I'm going to be going to school to learn animation... And when I actually get my career going, I'll be sure to put "Be involved with the relaunch of Dinoriders" on my to do list! I'll have to make sure I get really good at drawing and animating dinosaurs if I ever want even a snowball's chance in hell of it happening tho.

i vaguely remember this! but sweet...bring it back :D

Still got my old VHS tapes. Awesome times.

I agree.

They need to put this and Dinosaucers on dvd while they're at it.

They only made 14 episodes? I remember watching this series and for some reason I thought it had a longer run, I guess repeats didn´t bother me much as a kid :yay:

I´d really like to see another series made with this concept but a realistic one would never work since even modern day weapons would kill any dinosaur easily.

And you know this how? Certain modern animals have bones dense enough to resist certain caliburs of bullets, and we know nothing about dinosaurs aside from what the fossilised remains of their skeletons tell us.

You really think that dinosaur hides could handle a .50 caliber rifle? Those things are powerful enough to punch through armored cars.

I don´t doubt that dinosaurs could handle a .22 caliber pistol round but these are advanced races with a active warfaring culture so I´m sure they would make weapons that are a little bit more dangerous then .22´s :yay:

On a side note a friend of mine was actually complaining about this series (and others) in regard to way all these supposed advancedd races use laser guns which seem to have all the punch of a 100 year old woman with arthritis when a nice old fashioned assault rifle would do a much better job.

I loved this show..show have stayed on longer than it did..I miss sunday morning cartoons

All I'm saying is, despite the fact that it's very unlikely, we know so little about what dinosaurs were actually like, that yes, they may have been able to resist that. It's all theory.

Well, it IS a children's cartoon about dinosaurs fighting with futuristic weaponry, so credibility and realism wasn't the main concern of the creators.

The Dinosaurs' armor could have shield generators. Problem solved!

Actually getting ahold of the episodes of this show is proving to be a serious pain... I tried d/ling them, but since there are hardly any seeders for it, it's only going at 2 KB a second, and I'm guessing even that isn't going to go much farther. Apparently there was a really good fan-made DVD of the show recently available through Dinoriders.com, but you can't buy it anymore.

Now, I think I'm going to just buy the official UK DVD from Amazon UK. Apparently the release doesn't contain the last episode, and I'll have to rip it onto my HDD to see it since it's region 2. But hey, it's better than nothing.

It might not be as good as getting an official US release, but it should be at least enough to tide me over until one eventually comes. It's truly criminal that no distributor in the US has gotten around to doing one!

Well this certainly brought back some memories.

As I definately remember this being one of my favourite cartoons during the 1st grade (dont ask me how I remember this). And I probably still have a VHS copy somewhere I'm sure.
