Directors that Annoy You that everyone suggests and/or the Christopher Nolan Thread.

No doubt he's made a lot of great movies in the past, but he hasn't done anything great since the turn of the century and grows more irrelevant with each passing year. I don't enjoy saying it, but Spielberg's lost it.

Lincoln is easily Top 5 Spielberg and his best since Schindler's List 20 years ago. The new millennium has also seen Catch Me If You Can and Munich, which were also fantastic.

Also, The Adventures of Tintin. Sure he might churn out a War Horse now and then, but Spielberg has far from lost his touch.

Nolan and Del Toro. I love their Batman and Hellboy films, but I'd rather they do the projects they're enthusiastic about. Else you'd end up with a bad film that tarnishes their record.

As a fan of fantasy literature, I'm annoyed that Peter Jackson's name gets stuck on anything that's big, epic and fantastic. Peter Jackson to direct The Legend of Drizzt, The Legend of Zelda, an Elric trilogy (:hehe: that's hilarious), Halo etc. Give me a Drizzt by Quentin Tarantino. Give me Elric by a director that won't throw up big CGI dragons and elementals, but rather make us feel that these beasts are there...

Right now, I find one director highly annoying, and it's not that I don't like his movies (actually, one of them I love) but that he has been the start up of two popular franchises, and so much anticipation is built on the next installment, and then he just bails for a bigger project, pretty much slapping the faces of the fans of the prior projects. Matthew Vaughn.

'O Russell. The man didn't invent drama.

Peter Jackson. Because I don't like him as a director at all and I especially despise when they suggest him for any STar Wars movie, namely Episode 9.

Guillermo Del Toro. The guy is genuine and talented, but his fanboyism always gets in the way of making truly magnificent movies (save for Pan's Labyrinth). Or any movies at all.

Nicolas Winding Refn.

The man's a genius, but no, he shouldn't do a goddamn Batman movie.

Because he totally didn't have a 200 million dollar movie open 3 weeks ago or anything.

Michael Bay, no need to elaborate why.

Why? He's the most hated director in hollywood, and I don't see anybody suggesting him for anything. Personally though, I love the guy, because despite the internet crybabies crying he's the worst, and all of the bashing he gets from the critics, he's still giving all of the haters a big up yours and laughing all the way to the bank.

Alfonso Cuaran. Seriously, why are people so fascinated by his work?

Directors:

1. Christopher Nolan
2. Joss Whedon
3. Stephen Spielberg
4. Peter Jackson

Actors

1. Robert Downey Jr. (now with the whole "he can play every Avenger crap.")
2. Benedict Cumberbatch

Rob Marshall is seemingly attached to every future movie Musical

The latter was a joke.

Also, Refn. I'm saving up money to hire Copperfield to make Refn disappear forever.
