sinewave, you are aware not every Republican was for this bill much the same way not every Democrat was against it.

The majority were Republican.

This is pretty much unworkable, in the long term. People have become accustomed to an international and largely unregulated source of information and communication. Attempts to muzzle the net will come and go.

This Bill is in effect the death of any form of non-profit creativity on the net.

Say good bye to fan comics and art, fan fcition, Fan movies and "homemade" movies in general, independent music and film, independant writing, poetry and art, flash animation and all the little things that made the web what it is.

So.....no more anime? No japanese music? no..............dare I say, Newgrounds?

that's it, I'm going *insert vigilante killer here* on thier republic asses

In essence, yes. anything that can't pay the "you only get adequate speed if you pay us" fee is going to go down the hole sooner or later and how are the services I mentioned supposed to do that since they are Non-Profit?

On the other hand, it's absolutely logical that capitalist america would go that route since the web has helped so many people realize the american dream without the help of the big companies that they need to take steps sooner or later so they don't become obsolete.

What are you planning?

Oh, nothing spectacular. At least not yet. Just that it is an election year, and since I live in a Republican-controlled state, I'm guessing at least someone from KS (probably Jim Ryun) was all for this.

So this still has to pass the Senate?

Yes it has to pass the Senate...

Who the hell orders a pizza online anyway

i do. it's easier than phoning it in because you don't get put on hold, have access to their entire menu and specials and you can pay with a debit card very easily.

of course i am. however, it's a republican controlled house and the majority for it were republicans.

yeah, i'll have to write democratic sen. ben nelson here in nebraska, because i know that wolf in sheep's clothing will probably support this, strangely unlike his republican counterpart chuck hagel.

You can always phone mom and pop's and you can always refine your search terms to get what you want.

You think it's any different today when who ever pays Google or AJ the most gets their web page prioritized?

is there any depth you won't sink to just to support your conservative brethren? i'd think everyone, republcan, democrat and independent, would be against this. what do you personally get out of supporting something like this? is it just blind loyalty? what happened to the old republican anti-big government stance? you're 40-something years old, learn to think for yourself, for crying out loud.

Why not curse off the people who passed it instead all republicans?

That doesn't mean all were Republican.

I don't think that's the point. This was a Republican-led effort, and it succeeded. At least in the House.

That doesn't mean all were Republican.

i'm also mad at the democrats who voted for it, but like bored said, it was a republican led effort.

I think the senate will shoot this down, but maybe I'm too optimistic. The Dems will vote against it as will the moderate Republicans. There are just too many rightwing idiots in the house now.

Once this hits the big news stations (CNN, FOX, NBC,CBS,ABC), and people become aware of it, a mass blogging effort and maybe even public protests will begin. I feel this is truly unconstitutional, as it revolutionized free speech. Heck, the same politicians who voted for this bill have probably been supported by a layman blogger. We need to bring the Democrats back into power this November, the Republicans have done nothing to help the situation in the last few years, and at least the Dems offer a hope for change.

But it was passed by the HOUSE. Not every Republican.
