But it was passed by the HOUSE. Not every Republican.

And again, you are missing the point. It was Republicans who pushed for this, and primarily Republicans who passed it in the House. At no point did Sinewave say every Republican in the House supported it.

so, on the public face of things, why the f**k do these jerk off politicans say this bill is a good idea?

is there any depth you won't sink to just to support your conservative brethren? i'd think everyone, republcan, democrat and independent, would be against this. what do you personally get out of supporting something like this? is it just blind loyalty? what happened to the old republican anti-big government stance? you're 40-something years old, learn to think for yourself, for crying out loud.

I have thought about it and I don't believe that it will affect most people. As I said, the one-price-fits-all allows those who move a lot of data to be subsidized by those who don't move a lot of data.

The multi-priced tier will give reason for the telecommunication companies to create terrabyte lines and allow the megabyte lines that most of us are on to continue at the approximate same pace and price.

When you throw competition into the mix with independents offering terrabyte lines at an affordable price, I'm betting the price of internet will drop even further.

I'm betting that things won't really change in practical terms over the long haul.

Great, now the only sites we'll be able to access are the ones that shell out the most money. Way to screw the small business owners and everyone who browses the web. I really hope the Democrats take over the House this fall, because the Republicans are just a bunch of greedy-ass, corporate ****es.

you know why? because the web is exposing these bastards for the crooks they are, and they are trying to stop it. You know how many anti-bush fact sites they bought up and sent to the back?

It's total communism. Bush isn't trying to spread democracy at all. Him and us both know Iraq is going to go dictatorship and this oil situation is going to make him richer than ever before.

Wiretaps without the voters knowing ahead of time so they could vote on it. And unchecked wiretapps at that. Rigged elections, and now the press isn't even free anymore. There is even talk about prosecuting the New York Times for telling us our preisdent was breaking the law, becuase the fact that Bush was doing this was "classified."

We are seriously on the verge of communism here. Our democracy is slipping right out from under the American people's noses.

Spreading Democracy my ASS! He's simply replacing democracy with communism! And he's a horrible person at that!

well, they both are in reality, but....it is more blatant right now on the republican side.
this bill is **** though.:down

yeah those lower class and middle class are totally using their 5 dollars and hour and 20 dollars an hour to bribe the democrats with millions of dollars into helping poor people

Look at it this way...the House may have passed it. But the Senate hasn't touched it, and isn't likely to any time soon. (They're too busy with gay marriage and crap like that). Plus it's an election year, they won't want to rock the boat too much.

So essentially this "House Passed" bill will die at the end of session no problem. Bills get passed and die all the time. I'll worry when I hear Nancy Pelosi, Denny Hastert, Dick Durbin, Arlen Spector and company talking about it every other day on CNN, Fox, and MSNBC.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!!!

Wtf is so wrong with the internet today that the government feels it needs to **ck with it??

Them and their corporate buddies don't have enough control over it so that they can filter information and affect consumer choices. :down

i think you're missing what's going on here. this will allow the highest bidder to monopolize the web. it's hurting small business owners, like you aspire to be.

Like I have said before, it will likely die before the Senate can touch it, or in conference committee...

yup, i hope you're right.

Trust me. I've interned/worked in governement on all levels, including Congress. It will likely die. Now, if you start hearing the camera loving poliiticians (Frist, Durbin, Pelosi, Murtha, Hagel, etc.) talking about it on the news more than just a passing reference then be afraid...until then i wouldn't worry. Besides, in an election year they are not going to want to rock the boat too much. (Example, an ineffective, never-gonna pass marriage ammendment--done just to avoid actually making PRODUCTIVE legislation.) I'm 93% sure the Net is gonna be ok.

it's not comunism, it's called fascism

they are both very different models

Wow. lazur criticized the American government under the Bush administration for once. Break out the champagne.

And to answer your question, they're f***ing with it because they want power, more power, always more power. How are they supposed to establish a de facto fascist state if there is a form of worldwide communication left uncontrolled?

fascists oppose communism

also other differences

for instance, communism has the glamourous Stalin and Lenin, while fascism's big star is Mussolini. of course fascism is less recognizable, it's like asking a kid who was a bigger 90s NBA star, Grant Hill or Detlef Schrempf.

I thought Hitler was the poster-boy for fascism.
