Disney becomes first studio to ban smoking in its films

I guess they'll have to change the rating on this moies to an R, eh?:D:csad:

Hell, the Hobbit could get an R-rating when it comes out if this keeps up...

They should also ban drinking alcohol in every movie besides R-rated movies. Alcohol is just as accessible as smoking to younger people so it wouldn't be right to ban smoking when drinking alcohol is just as easily glorified if not more so in movies.

Even though smoking is really digusting, banning it from movies completely is too much.

But then again, it's Disney. That makes sense.

People really haven't been smoking in movies in years. Pipe-smokers, and bigwig types with cigars are really the only people who would do it anymore in a Disney movie anyway.

People in general don't even smoke as much as they used to, unless it's a period film or a scene in a bar or something I wouldn't think it would even be that noticable an omission for any studio.

lets ban guns, knives, and other sharp objects too.....

where does it stop.....

hasnt the mpaa done enough to dumb down movies?

They don't want to promote it to kids so I say its good move for disney- if it was fox or new line i'd have an issue

I would like to see Disney ban directors who want to completely change characters from the original properties they purchase.... like they did in My Favourite Martian and now Underdog.

MFM tanked and I predict Underdog will do the same.

Disney's just looking at all of this from a corporate standpoint-they couldn't care less what real kids do or are influenced by, so much as they or their parents buy their crap. :whatever:

Agree.

It's dumb to ban the image of something just because is bad for you... if we take everything bad, we are gonna end up watching some teletubbies ****...

And a movie screen is the place where someone smoking bothers me the least :p

My favorite Martian

I thought that movie was cool but I aint seen it in years

"It is s*** like this that is going to bring this situation to ahead."

Everytime I hear about some stupid little rule or law or guidline like this it tears away at my soul and becomes a festering sliver that is to deep to remove. Stupid things like this are what is going to ultimately cause the complete and total disintigration of America.

In the grand scheme of things, by itself, the banning of smoking in movies made primarily for children is nothing to get worked up about. However, IT IS a microcosm of the direction this country is going and the problem it is facing.

All these people who are making laws and rules to 'protect' people they have never even met is absurd. Where will it stop, where? Letting people have what they want, when they want it is the best way to build a strong country. It ALLOWS them to know the truth for themselves and it ALLOWS them more access to the 'fruits of the world.'

These so-called 'preventive acts' people are taking are complete and total bull****. Seriously, did the man's being drunk cause the car crash or was it his going 85 miles per hour down a dark and wet road?

Basically, the only laws that make sense are:

1. Don't kill anyone or think about killing anyone
2. Don't rape anyone or think about raping anyone
3. Don't steal anything or think about stealing anything

and try not to lie

Let kids smoke and drink, let people drive drunk, legalize all drugs. America and it's form of government have been around for almost 250 years so it's almost time for the big collapse. 300 years is the average time limit before governments or countries fall so lets get to it. Legalize everything but the big three and let's send America off in style.
