'Aladdin' Live-Action Prequel in the Works at Disney

I think Francia Raisa would be a good Jasmine

She's too old and she definitely doesn't look like the same type of person Jasmine most likely would be.

Well, I think Gal can easily pass for mid 20s which is definitely what I assume Disney will go for- no way is this going to be a 15 year old! And she is from Israel in case you didn't realize. I'm not suggesting an American for the role. So, the type debate is a tad bit redundant in that sense.

Well, she doesn't look like someone in her mid 20s. But, that's just me. Even so, most of these Disney princesses are depicted as being younger than their mid 20s. I'd assume the same for Jasmine considering at the time, a princess is likely to be pretty young if she's getting married. Also the fact the Aladdin is meant to me some homeless kid (probably to get some sympathy for his situation). All of this is moot if they do want these characters to be older and even more so if the film doesn't end up getting made for years if at all.

I know where she's from. Doesn't change my opinion.

Didn't the Sultan exclaim "Praise Allah!" at one point? That seems to indicate a Muslim faith...

Yes, he says it right after he finds out that Jasmine has agreed to marry "Prince Ali." But it was so quick that I think a lot of people missed it. But if this is explore how Genie got into the lamp, I don't see how ANY of them (Aladdin, Jasmine, Sultan, etc) could be in it, given that Genie claims to have been in the lamp for 10,000 years. Well MAYBE Jafar if they go with "he's a wizard who's much older than he looks" or something like that.

Jasmine isn't Muslim or any religion for that matter. The religion of agrabah in Disney's version isn't Muslim or any specific religion and since Agrabah isn't real any actor of middle eastern decent whether they be Jewish, Christian, Muslim, or even Buddhist or Hindu will be perfectly fine and acceptable. The religion of an actor is none of my business nor yours nor Disney's and barring Jews from roles in the film is as racist as barring Muslims or any other actors of any cultural background from the film.

Uh, her father screams "PRAISE ALLAH" when she chooses Aladdin as her suitor.

He also tells her pet tiger, “Allah forbid you have any daughters!!”

Also, the Genie/narrator’s first line is “Salaam and good evening to you, worthy friends!”
