Animation Disney's 'Moana'

I watched this earlier today at my friend's house with my goddaughter via a screener copy. It wasn't bad but it wasn't very good either. It's on the same level as the better direct to video Disney sequels from back in the day like The Lion King II or Aladdin and the King of Thieves. The new side characters were a fun addition but as I had expected, the plot was mediocre and the songs were bland. I wasn't much a fan of Frozen II's story either but in that case at least the songs made up for it. Every song in the first Moana was on point but here the only one that was even semi-memorable was "Beyond".

Gonna be fun seeing this rehashed in live action in about 5 years. :o

C'mon y'all, Disney already gets my $2.99 a month for D+. They have enough of my money. :o

Wrong, Get Lost is an absolute banger.

This is absolutely better than Lion King II and it’s not particularly close.

Now, having said that, it was nowhere near as gripping or emotional as the first movie. But my daughter loved it, so that’s more what I care about.

But, that’s IMPOSSIBLE!
“It’s just a reconfigured TV show ”NOBODY’S going to watch that!!”

Kids are the ULTIMATE Judge.

It was never about whether or not it would be a hit, it's about the quality being nowhere close to on par with the first one.

Perhaps not. But, people were at least satisfied enough to help it cross the billion dollar mark.
No Small Acheivment.

More like Disney knows they can slack off and still get money for it. It's how we ended up with straight to video sequels.

The question was never whether it would make bank - that was a given - it was whether or not it would deserve to. Which it absolutely doesn’t, but Disney will now continue to be validated in half-assing and cheaping out on their sequels now, because hey, easy money. Yay.

A lot of why it got to a billion was because of the popularity of the first movie, the same reason why the Transformers and Jurassic World sequels hit that same benchmark with a negative response from critics. Not saying that Moana 2 is bad like those but this is the way franchises work.

Well, at least, it shall lead to,Moana 3!

I absolutely loved the first one, it's my favorite Disney film. I haven't seen part 2 yet tho.
And I'm looking forward to the live action version.

I really like this franchise too, I just hope they don't flood us with a 3rd one & a live action one, don't want them to start flogging this to death.
