Disney's Monsters At Work

Can't wait. Monsters Inc. is my favorite Pixar film

No news on the Investors Day. Also not on the release schedule for 2021/(should’ve been released already this year)
This looks dead right now...

Meet the 'Monsters At Work' crew in exclusive first look at new Disney+ series

It’s only a short teaser, though...but I expected something more expensive and laborious
The animation doesn’t look so different from something like Paw Patrol

Well, it was made for streaming, it was never going to be on the animation level of the actual Pixar movies.

It was delayed by a year and it was created as an exclusive title for paying subscribers.
I need to wait for the release, but this teaser, that should create curiousity, didn’t got mine

I had to look up Pawl Patrol. Are you being serious?

The new animation has eh movement, but overall it is well above something like Paw Patrol or pretty much any CGI show you find on television or Netflix.

Paw Patrol is something for it to aspire to.

Animation looks way better, than in the teaser. Looks fun

I checked out the first episode. It does a pretty good job at picking up where Monsters Inc. left off and if the season delivers, it could at least end up being better than Monsters University.

haha this was awesome - I smiled through the whole first episode.
I’m saving the second episode for a bad day next week.

btw: the animation is far more better than Paw Patrol

Monsters Inc is one of my favorite Pixar movies, so I was pretty excited about this. But right off the bat I got pretty unexcited... seems they retconned the ending of the original movie, and I don't like it. The "laugh floor" at the end of the movie was booming! With laughter being 10x more potent than scares, the energy crises was solved. Then boom... there's an energy shortage and they don't have enough "jokester's"??? Took me out of the first 2 episodes.

Apparently it's an in-betweenquel (I think that's a thing?) and it takes place in between the scene where Sulley says goodbye to Boo and the final scene in the movie after a few months had passed.

It's kind of why a sequel to Monsters, Inc. was always somewhat pointless. I get why they want to continue the brand and I'm sure the series is fun. But the prequel Monsters University was really the only way to go after that powerful ending of Sully's face IMO. But I think Pete Docter said the first movie was all he really had to say about those characters.

Kids go ask your parents who?!
For that Mike Wazowski musical number, Billy Crystal is totally channeling Time for Timer...:funny:

Just watched the first two episodes and I love it so far!

The new characters from Mift are great. Fritz kinda reminds me of a nicer Michael Scott lol

The cast is on point and I like how this show works as a spin-off/sequel to the original film

exactly, where the end of the movie skips ahead a few months this takes place in the days after while their still trying to figure things out (hence the need for MIFT, to always be fixing things) however this does give the show a very narrow window before it catches up with that timeline of the movies ending

I guess once they get to that point it could just go on as more of a direct continues from the movies ending, but then whats the drive of the story ?

over all this didn't stray too far from for them still continuing the original story...
a, Lost in Scaradise, type movie could still work

tho, I think the next logically step would be to go back to Monsters University {introducing a new generation of young monsters}

but, this time it would be a reverse take on the social hierarchy on campus (from Mike's and Sulley days) where it would now be a Comedy Collage, with the monster's previously deemed too small/weak/silly to be "scariers" being the Big Monstars on campus, and the biggest/scarest monsters struggling

we've already seen set up for Mike to be a professor at the school, with his little stint of "Mike's Comedy Class"(maybe they get to the point where they've trained enough Jokesters to effetely run the laugh floor, that Mike is ably to retire and take a teaching job full time)

at first, Mike kinda see's the humor in the ironic twist of faint on campus (remembering his days in school) an always takes the funnier monsters side, turning a blind eye (no pun intended) to them harassing/bullying of the bigger monsters.... even occasionally joining in on poking fun at the "scary monsters" who aren't funny himself

until Sulley, comes to visit him on campus and see's this happening, and tells Mike how wrong it is... then Mike and Sulley team up to reach out too/help the scary monsters be funnier (or find other talents of theirs) teaching them they can be more them just scary....

I mean it basically writes itself (an yes I'm aware that I put way too much thought into this lol)
