At the licensing fair in Las Vegas, Disney/Pixar revealed to buyers behind closed doors that they have yet another sequel in the works. Despite what Brad Bird said on stage at WonderCon two years ago, Pixar is now in the sequel business. Cars 2, Toy Story 3, and now Monsters Inc 2. According to Jim Hill, buyers who attended these limited preview sessions were sworn to secrecy by Disney officials, but several have confirmed that Pete Docter will be following up Up with a sequel to Monsters, Inc.

A Monsters Inc sequel has been rumored for some time now. At Comic-Con 2008, director Pete Docter responded to an audience question about the prospects of a sequel by admitting that “We’ve thought about it… We’ve got a couple ideas.” And now that it is quasi-confirmed, when should we expect to return to Monstropolis? Pixar has announced all their films up until 2012, so could a Monsters Inc sequel be in store for 2013?

I'd rather this as long as the plot is good over Cars 2.

Shrek and Monsters Inc both came out in 2001.

Since 2001 Dreamworks has cranked out 3 Shrek movies with Shrek 4 and a Puss in Boots prequel to come while Monsters Inc may have their first sequel in 2013.

If they're going to make a sequel its going to have a great plot and would love to see Mike, Sully and Boo together again.

Why? Monsters, Inc. had a perfect ending, why ruin it with a sequel? And Monsters over an Incredibles sequel? :csad:

i agree with nirvana.
toy story is the only movie that had a sequel. since then pixar showed that they are able to make unique movies.
make something new like always. the ending was pretty good.

I would rather see an Incredibles sequel (or trilogy) myself. Monsters Inc. was a fairly contained story, I don't see the need for more story from those characters.

Im happy that Toy Story 3 is coming out but I much rather have them making new stories than sequels to the other movies.

Back when anyone could browse the IMDB forums--when you didn't have to be a registered user--I read a fan idea which had Boo as a teen who was put in a mental hospital because people thought she was crazy when she tried to tell others about Monstropolis. I think Mike and Sully had to rescue her. It was really ****ing dark, needless to say.

meh it doesnt need a sequel.... i wasnt a big fan of the first anyways.

hell id even prefer a cars2 after seeing that awesome tokyo drift short by pixar...

incredibles2 all the way... it could have them vs an evil family of villains lol

I agree with some of the others...first mention of a Cars sequel and now a Monsters Inc sequel but NO Incredible? what the......

Seriously, why so many boners over The Incredibles? I didn't think it wasn't all that great. :o

Well, I have to say, I liked Monster's Inc. a helluva lot better than Cars, so this isnt too bad, but they really need to get around to The Incredibles 2. That's pretty much the only Pixar movie that screams "franchise".

I must agree with Nivek, i think an Incredibles one might make more sense.

Brad Bird doesn't want to do an Incredibles sequel and they're not going to replace him. It's probably never going to happen. :csad:

Well, then, he's an a**hole. :cmad:

So no one here would see Monsters Inc. 2?
