Do you honestly like Adam Sandler?

Can't say I like him that much. He's on my list of "cheezy comedians to avoid." Most of the movies I've seen him in revolve around romance and I loathe chick flicks. He might be better in non-chick flicks, but I wouldn't know.

I wouldn't call him "cheezy." Juvenile and immature, yes, but not "cheezy." Jim Carey's early work was "cheezy."

Most comedies turn into romantic comedies if there is a female love interest.

pretty much

Click was the worst movie from him. I laughed when he [blackout]died[/blackout] because he couldn't make it realistic enough. It sounded like he was laughing.

To each their own. I knew plenty of people who were moved by that scene and some I knew cried in the theater. I admit that I choked up a little bit during the scene where he
rewinds time in order to relive the last time he saw his father.

In my opinion Adam Sandler's worst film is Bulletproof or Billy Madison. But that's just me. I loved Happy Gilmore, Click, Waterboy, Spanglish, Reign Over Me, and Big Daddy though.

He's a tad fugly, I'm not gay but I prefer handsome comedians like Jim Carrey, Steve Martin.

Yea that scene gets to me too.

Ha. I used to like Carrey when I was a kid. :o That's true. Carrey's almost the definition of the word.

True. Just looked up a list of his movies and he was in considerable fewer chick flicks than I thought. I seem to remember more emphasis on romance. Ah well. Still don't like his comedies too much.

Not really, but one part was funny though. "The price is wrong, *****!":D

I loved him as a kid but I haven't really been entertained by his comedies since The Waterboy. However, I do think he gave a great performance in the underrated Punch Drunk Love, so I'll give him credit for taking his explosive man child persona and taking it to a different, but more logical approach

Jim Carrey never became the star of it

People loved Carrey so much that they turned Ace Ventura into a hit film. Carrey was so popular on the show that when he left he got cast in three movies that made him a superstar.

Damon Wayans, while great and popular, has pretty much been overshadowed by his two younger brothers.

The best of his I've seen so far are "Spanglish" and "Billy Madison". I've yet to see "Punch Drunk Love" though. LIke Matt said, Sandler's an underrated dramatic actor.

Sandler was great in Reign over me

I think he ok .

I really like Jessica Biel:yay:  .

Very true. An example of some straight comedies would be....

hmmm...

A Christmas Story
White Men Can't Jump
Very Bad Things
The Austin Powers Trilogy
Boogie Nights
and Orange County

are a few

I like his movies, especially Big Daddy

I hope I'll like Reign Over Me as well.

No. I don't like his work at all.

I do enjoy the running gag of his character being such a ladies man in every movie. This one featured him sleeping with multiple asian import models, one of which is Tila Tequila with her skanky ass.

I was in a bar the other night that had one of Adam's comedy CD's in the jukebox...people sure looked at us funny when we played the "talking goat" sketch.
