Do you honestly like Adam Sandler?

For one, it could be crying. It could be acting. It could be anything.

Hell yeah, he's done some excellent movies, from the stupid comedies like Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore, to his more serious dramedies, like Click and Reign Over Me.

I wouldn't call myself a Adam Sandler fan, but I like the guy. His weekend update segments on SNL were great. His early films like Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, etc were really dumb but funny. And, recently he's been doing some interesting work. He's doing his usual movies with some more dramatic stuff.

I've liked most of his movies so far. I don't see a reason to not like him unless it's just not your style of comedy, or you don't have a sense of humour to begin with. He has a good record so far compared to a lot of people who started off in standup or SNL. Hasn't had to slump down to doing a stupid sitcom yet.

Overall Synopsis of Adam Sandler Movies

Billy Madison - Funny, funny, funny. Before Adam Sandler was a household name who didn't find some really funny ***** in this movie?

Happy Gilmore - Bob Barker kicking Adam Sandler's a** and calling Adam Sandler a 'b***h' almost made the movie. Very funny movie that I was able to watch 5-6 times in 2-3 days when I first saw it.

Bulletproof - Not as funny as his prior two films but a nice chnge of pace. Having Halle Berry as a stripper didn't hurt this movie any either.

The Wedding Singer - A nice flashback to the 80's and a more mature comedic scheme than Billy Madison or Happy Gilmore.

The Waterboy - Sandler returned to his zany self in the form of Bobby Boucher. A great comedy for sports fans everywhere to enjoy.

Big Daddy - I'm not a fan of movies with kids so it took me awhile to finally see this. Once I did, I could honestly say it wasn't bad. A nice, cute movie.

Little Nicky - This is where a lot of people jumped off the Adam Sandler bandwagon. Before I saw it everyone I knew who saw it said it was stupid. Stupid, yes. Funny, hell yes.

Mr. Deeds - I felt this movie was his least compelling. Not overly humorous, not much action, and little drama. Still, it made me chuckle a bit.

Eight Crazy Nights - Never saw it and don't want to. Can't be that good.

Punch Drunk Love - I really would like to see this again before giving a critique of it. As of now, I can only say it was worse than 'Joe vs. the Volcano.'

Anger Mqanagement - Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson. That was enough to get a lot of people intrested in Sandler again. I can honestly say I wasn't disappointed.

50 First Dates - As a guy, I don't generally watch or like romantic movies. This one was pretty good though. A really original concept and a nice movie you and your girlfriend can watch together and enjoy.

Spanglish - I finally saw this movie on TBS the other night and all I can say is... BORING.

The Longest Yard - I don't know why I saw this at the theatre but I did. I had my doubts about Sandler in the Burt Reynolds role and I was right to.
Wasn't a bad movie but less than I expected.

Click - Adam Sandler's best film to date. What a concept!

Reign Over Me - Have not seen it yet and after seeing Sandlers previous drama's(Punch Drunk Love, Spanglish) I am very skeptical of it.

I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry - Looking forward to seeing this. Kevin James is hilarious, Jessica Biel is HOT, and the story sounds original and funny. Should be good.

I'd probably gice him a letter grade of a B- for the overall work. Not bad.

The only film I really ever enjoyed him in was Reign Over Me. I was truly impressed.

Hes okay. Most of his movies are the same cookie cutter. Happy Gilmore was byfar his best film. I haven't seen click yet,but plan too as well as chuck and larry.
I think he needs to do what Eddie Murphy, and Jim Carrey are doing reinventing themselves..Eddies doin the kids/slap-stick comedy movies which is a good move imo. Jim's gotten away from the comedy so to speak and tried different things and has some success at doing them.

Adam Sandler is to white people what the Wayne's Brothers are to black people, both are talented but they both put out schlock generic films that they know people will flock to.

That is a GREAT line! Its really true....

Scary Movie was probably the best thing the Wayans Brothers did, period. Not the sequel, but the first one. It was gross, clever and took jabs at the genre.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. From a comedic standpoint, he is one of the most overrated actors in Hollywood. From a dramatic standpoint he is one of the most underrated actors in Hollywood.

I'm so old that I remember a time when the Wayans Brothers meant Keenen and Damon. And, stood for quality shows like In Living Color and quilty pleasure movies like Major Payne and Blankman. How times have changed. :csad:

I really like all of his films. My favorite Sandler films are actually Big Daddy, Click and Reign Over Me. Each made me laugh, cry and have an overall great time. And yes, I'm man enough to admit that those films were good tear jerkers.

I don't think he's the funniest guy alive, but he is funny. And he is also a very good serious actor, which I don't think people give him enough credit for. He was phenomenal in Reign Over Me. So, on these points I really agree with what Matt said above.

I love catching In Living Color reruns...both that at the Kids in the Hall.

yep...times certainly have changed :csad:

/\ in living color rocks (apart from the last few seasons)

Anyway Adam Sandler i love him, think he is funny as hell, and Punch Drunk love was great aint seen Reign over me yet though

I still don't know why they didn't turn 'Firemarshal Bill' into a movie! I mean, SNL was doing it during its time with it's popular skits such as Wayne's World.
