Do you read (inside of parantheses)?

Do you read inside of parentheses? I don't get it, there have been soooooooo many times someone's been reading aloud and they skipped it. I've sent letters to shows and they don't read inside them and I thought I always did but two minutes ago I forgot!!! Is it a contagious disease not to read inside them!? Please help (hold me)...
