I've been hearing from tech reviewers that home printers are becoming more and more scarce as data sharing has become more and more robust. Do you guys still use a printer?

I have mine from when I was going to college.

All the time. I'd be lost without it. Do these people never send letters?

yeah I do too in fact my trusty old Epson wifi printer I got in 2015 died so I got a new Epson and I love that when I go to print from my laptop or phone it wakes up, prints, then goes back to sleep.

I only use one for work. I haven't used a home printer in years. Just no need and besides the costs of ink are still such it is almost cheaper to just buy a new printer.

For work I use one all the time. We have remote sites without cloud access and field teams that need documents that are to large for a tablet screen.

For home use we have one with a scanner. The scanner gets more use but the printer is nice when we need to send out letters, resumes, or a repair instruction.

Occasionally. Mostly for scanning hard copy documents. I was doing a refi a couple of months ago and 95% of the time, I could just go to the insurance company, government, or bank website, sign up, download the necessary document, and upload it to the portal. My daughter and wife use it more than I do. I think they find it easier to read on paper than on a monitor. I'm like that when it comes to books. I have never once read a book on Kindle, Clara, or something like that. It just seems sort of sacrilegious somehow. I grew up collecting and getting books of all kinds (including comics) and they always seemed special to me.

I sell stuff on Ebay so sometimes I'll use mine 3-4 times a week, which lets me drop them off at the post office as opposed to waiting in line which is great.

As a teacher I use my home printer daily to prepare some work sheets. And I could never learn just with an ipad, I had always my learning cards in prepare of an exam.

I’ve used my printer 4 times in the last year

I’m thinking of getting one, just to print photos and nice stuff like that

Then the cost of printer ink and high quality photo paper will make you rethink all your life decisions. :o

I still have to print up plans and reports but sending stuff has been a lot more electronic.

My mom uses hers all the time. She has a movie Library of about 5,000??? movies and likes to make covers for them from stuff she pulls off the internet. She's pretty good at it. She has something called Click and Design???? or something like that and has this paper that fits the DVD sleeve. She has a front and back picture that has the cast on the back. On the spine, she prints the movie name, date, and runtime. I built a bunch of cabinets in the garage (which I turned into a home theater) and they are all in alphabetical order. I would have just put them on a drive and used a database to sort, but she likes the media. Older school I guess.

I was wondering about movie storage and you can pick up a 5TB drive for about $100. That's kind of mind boggling. How much memory does a typical digital blu ray download use?

Google says 30GB-60GB.

Yeah. I'm also reading between 16-30, etc. they can't seem to make up their minds. I think the main reason for having a printer right now is probably aesthetics or labeling things.

The new happening thing is to rip all your physical media onto a server and use something like Kodi or Plex to watch it all.

I bought my printer for that purpose. Used it several times and now I just don't have enough time to choose, edit and print photos. It's really easier to pay money and get already printed photos of a good quality.
