I dont type using the Home Row. I actually only use 3 of my fingers, but my computer teacher now says that have to use all 10 fingers because its the "right" way. But why cant more than one way be right? So Im asking you guys if you do use home row or something else. And for those of you who do use home row, have you ever been in a position where you HAD to use Home Row? And, please keep in mind, that Friday I reached 108 WPM using 3 fingers.

I don't think there's a right way to type... I just know where the keys are and I type with maybe four fingers overall, none of that home row stuff for me

Of course there's a "right way" to do it. You just don't have to do it that way.

see, thats what im saying. I use the computer so much that I know where the keys are, and I think that since I'm going faster than most of the class, i dont see y theres a problem.

The basic technique involves the use of the home row method, where the typist keeps his/her wrists up, rather than resting them on a desk or keyboard as this can cause carpal tunnel syndrome. The typist is to place his/her feet flat on the floor in front of him/her, keeping his/her elbows close to his/her sides with his/her forearms slanted slightly upward to the keyboard. The typist keeps his/her eyes on the source copy at all times, a technique known as touch typing. This stands in contrast to hunt and peck typing.

I have one finger doing the left of the key board and 3 doing the right side. (not that i have odd hands or anything i can just type faster that way)

Again knowing where the keys are on the keyboard itself helps with touch typing without the help of the home keys, I follow all of what you have mentioned there but I just don't need to use the home row technique, it's kind of a sixth sense if you want to put it in that way

Home row typing is for other forums.

We hype row type, as fast as we can, as sarcastic as we can.

My computer teacher in 6th grade always told us to position ourselves in front of the J key & then like put your pinky, ring, middle, & index on the ASDF keys & for your right hand, the letters JKL & ;. That didn't really help me type better.:o

It's hard enough for me to fend off the emos and hulk fans, I don't need this. :o

I came to the hype rough around the edges, grammatically speaking, of course.

Now, I can write properly so other hypers do not bleed from the eyes.

Thanks, Hype.

Yeah its ment to be your index fingers on F and J thats why they have those sticky up bits on them. then use space with your thumbs

My approval should be a reward in its self.

You don't need a cookie.

Yeah, that too. I dunno, maybe it helped a little though. Like I can type most words without looking at the screen or keyboard so I guess I learned something.

I feel dirty when I use lol or pwn. :( I'd kill myself If I misspelled on purpose.

Grammar approved by Kritish.

Now, if we could only make that statement a permanent stamp so you could congratulate said posters and their advancement from third grade to the hype.

Yeah but that kind of stuff comes with time, i can text on my phone with out looking, thats only because over a decade of doing it, and now i know where all the letters/functions are haha

You know what else pisses me off? People that misspell things on purpose, you don't spell night like 'nite' or light like 'lite'. :cmad:
