They're all characters from The Guild comedy series. The heavy woman, Clara, ignores and neglects her small children to play World of Warcraft constantly. It's horrifying but hilarious.

I don't think guys finding the "girl next door" look attractive is anything new. It's also definitely not just a geek trend, I'd much rather date a girl next door type than a model hot type girl.
