I watched Indy 4, knowing it would suck, just so I would be current.

Has anyone else done this?

Examples please?

Sometimes on DVD, if I don't feel like watching anything else. Otherwise, no.

Never. The only movies I go to see even when I think they'll suck are superhero movies. But not all of them. I'll never watch Catwoman for example. I have seen enpugh to have an idea of it.

I'm not really picky sometimes I'll watch random movies, just for the hell of it.

No. If I did that, I would end up having to watch Twilight movies.

As someone else said...I watch the movies I feel like watching. I don't care if a particular movie is the biggest thing in the world, if it doesn't look like something I want to watch, I won't go out of my way to watch it. If sometime in the future it comes on the ENCORE movie channels I subcribe to, then I may give it a look.

No. I don't really care about "staying current."

I generally just watch whatever interests me. This doesn't preclude movies that happen to be popular though.

Yes, I do sometimes since I have several circles of friends/associates, both online and offline that are massive movie buffs.

I won't see movies that are popular, but I will see movies that have a good buzz going for them, mainly from the online film community and sites like AICN, Chud, and Collider. I've come to love several movies I might not have been interested in seeing at first.

This goes for me as well.

I have a buddy who recommends a lot of Asian movies and I've seen a lot of 80s and 90s Kung Fu films thanks to him and some Korean ones like Oldboy, and others like Ichi the Killer, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, I have to say that sometimes I find a few that I like, but most of the time I'm like WTF was I thinking?

No, if that was the case I would've watched the Harry Potter movies, the Twitter movie, Scott Pilgrim, etc.

And were you surprised that it didn't?
but it did suck. :awesome:

It would have been decent if it wasn't an indy movie. I have higher standards for Indiana Jones movies.

I never see movies in the theater just to stay current because I don't have the time or money for it. I usually only see the films that really interest me in theaters and on DVD I catch the films I want to see that I missed in theaters. And that list is extremely long so I don't have time to see films that disinterest me just so I can stay current. Whenever I watch a film I don't want to see like The Happening or Twilight, I always watch them with Rifftrax. The only time I didn't do that was with Transformers 2 and my god did I regret that. Never again.

No, I can't say that I do. Seems like the most bizarre reason to watch movies I can think of. I know a lot of comic readers do stuff like this, but for movies...? I don't get it.

I try to watch Award Season movies but i feel i'm not terribly alone in that. I like to be informed on the Oscar and Golden Globe picks.

The only thing I can think of that i've tried to watch because it's popular and not neccesarily because I was that interested was Star Wars.

Weirdly, if something gets too mainstream popular I tend to get put off watching it, even tho i know i'll probably enjoy it. Like Underworld, Avatar... i've even not got around to watching Inception yet!
